Yes, but some roads don't have the speed limit displayed at every intersection, so when I turn onto an unfamiliar road I'm guessing based on surroundings what the limit should be until the sign is displayed further up.

I'm not saying its a huge issue but if I turn on an empty road out on the country, I'm going to assume 80, sometimes that's not the case and if this happens to be a popular spot for a speed trap you might get screwed.

Obviously this doesn't happen very frequently but its nice to know when I'm driving around unfamiliar roads what the limit is right when I turn on to it and not 1km later down the road.

This would be great if Apple Car Play had a Waze App.

I use my limit display. Alot. Always thought it was gimmicky until I added it to my Titan. My Titan (and my Wifes Grand Cherokee) also have an overspeed warning you can set at a % or MPH over. It gripes at you to remind you that you are speeding. Not sure if I would like it in the Camaro but I use it alot in the others, especially on roads where the speed limit jumps around.

I find the speed limit display on the HUD an invaluable feature. I too am unsure reading threads, including this one, as to whether navigation option is necessary to get this feature. I have navigation and have always wondered if that's why I get the local speed limit. With Android Auto I never use the factory navigation. But the $400 it cost is worth the price if that's the only way to get speed limit displayed. At least one post in this thread says navigation is not required for seeing the prevailing speed limit. For those still doing pre purchase research, a definitive answer would be helpful.

I won't tell you to search, because nobody likes that. But about a year ago we all went through this , the threads are here somewhere.

You need nav the get speed limit.

Agreed there is no debate. NAV is required. We also landed many men on the moon. JFK was not shot by a magic bullet either. Carry on...

The speed limit info comes from the map database which is provided by a couple of companies, one being Navigation Technologies. Nav systems, whether it be GM, Magellan, Garmin, etc., uses info in this database for routing. When updating maps, you are updating the NavTech database. If you don't want OEM nav, buy a Magellan or Garmin for about $130 and you will get the same speed limit feature. The Garmin I bought 5 years ago has this feature.

We have a forest of street signs over here every street have speed signs. The cam reads also temporary speed limits if we have road works. In General down town 50km/h (31mph) on highways no limit except traffic jam, road works or smaller highways. The cam system works really good.

Is that a different option than the Onstar Nav?

Sorry if that's a noob question - I picked up my 1le a week ago. It's got Onstar nav, but I can't seem to figure out the speed limit thing.
