In the winter months, my dad tried to drive his 2013 SS. In Michigan. He has been driving for forever, and going to the track... etc. He isn’t a dummy. But he wanted to test out how no winter tires would work with a short drive, as he was planning on buying an Avalanche to take him to work (1 hour drive on highway, Camaro won’t do well either way in our bad weather). At this point he had all season dealer tires still.

We did what should be a 5 minute trip to Mcdonald’s and we were sliding in every damn direction, I’ve never been in a car so terrible in the winter. He ended up buying the Avalanche. It was the average icy Michigan day. We live in nowhere land and this was at night, there was nobody to crash into. Thing is basically a tank. If I were to spend 20k+ on a flashy car like a Camaro, I’d try to spend 1/4 of that on a winter car. The safety and ableness to drive to work in shitty conditions is worth it to me.

Then he bought summer tires for the Camaro. And we can use the Avalanche for “truck” stuff.

Agreed. Was at Spring Mountain and saw a fleet of ZLE's but they were there for some Chevy event, not avaiable for driving school. Why does the most track focused car Chevrolet has ever built not have a track experience built into the purchase price???

Damn this place...I just signed up for Drivers Edge which has a track day this coming weekend (supposed to be 60 degrees). I'm not planning on this being a thing, but I figure I'd get one track day in my SS Sedan before I trade it in. I sure hope nothing goes wrong as I'd hate to have my trade-in value drop... Oh and have I said this already, damn this place!
