The OP is after a standard ZL1...not a 1LE version. I too got taken for a ride for over two months. Then I went out and found the car I wanted and went and got it, sitting on a lot a couple of states away. My local dealer swore he would get me a 2018, and when it didnt happen...he insisted it wasnt in his control. Ordering the car was a frustrating waste of time.

As far as the ZL1 goes, they are not allocated this model year.... but they have been on constraint..... with the higher volume Camaro dealers getting the available numbers.... a smaller dealer with fewer Camaro sales will be left out in the cold until the constraints are lifted or the availability number goes up......

I had to call 4 dealers in my state before I found one that had an allocation. They're the biggest Chevy dealer around, and actually had a ZL1 on the lot (unfortunately, wrong color, and automatic.)
The salesman I dealt with was very easy to work with - gave me the order workbench without me asking, was a quick and easy negotiation, and I felt confident the car was coming. These guys seem to move a lot of Camaros and Corvettes, they had a number on the lot, and the sales guy was driving a 50th SS. I ordered on 7/29, the car is still in 1100 status. I asked him about it last week and he said that it wasn't an issue, and that the build process only takes 2-3 weeks, and we're still 100% good for a 6-8 week delivery schedule at this point. It is tricky, because in a vacuum, I would feel totally at ease that everything is fine. However, people in here are saying if it's still at 1100 after a week, that you are in trouble. Not sure what to think - I don't want to create a scene or cancel my order prematurely. My inclination is to wait, and I don't feel at all that they have given me the run around - I was given the order workbench without asking, they verified all the options with me at the time of order, and had me verify on the workbench print out, and they were seemingly realistic about the timeframe. My gut tells me 2 weeks after order is too soon to be concerned.. thoughts? |

So go ask them the question I posted above in post #11......a workbench @ 1100 is toilet paper, until the workbench says 2000, you are nowhere. |

The gen sls mgr or the GM, NOT your sales guy. He's not the guy that matches orders with allocations.....

so this is annoying, the Camaro is losing the Mustang vs. Camaro sales contest and we have to wait on allocations?

Dealers I talked to that had ZL1s on their lot were falling over themselves to get in touch with me. As soon as I said it wasn't the one I wanted, they bailed. I get it.. they have a lot full of cars, they'd much rather sell what they have than order one and hope you follow through on the purchase. I'm sure there are a lot of people that jerk dealers around on orders. But yeah, it is really painful from the purchaser side. I have been tempted to just settle and pick up a car that isn't exactly what I want, just so I don't have to wait. I'm just sure I'll regret it. |

Cancel order and demand your money back then go order from Becky @ Michael Bates Chevy in MI. She can have the car delivered straight to your driveway. She won't at least BS you and tell you straight up if they have allocation or not.

Placed an order in June, left a deposit and still no answer and they have no idea but promised me and assured me that I will have the first one for that dealership and the area. Their words "definitely have an allocation". I'll be stopping there tomorrow on my way back from LIMEROCK and getting my deposit back. Pipe-dream
