Hah thanks. I went into day two as if we were all on day one. Got a decent clean 1st lap. Went a little slower on my second lap and said "f it" and went for it on the last run. Starting to get a feel for this car and enjoying it. It was fun talking to all the gm guys, all nice and cold to talk to.

It's my 1st ever tour win so I'm pretty happy about that. It's going to take faster runs to beat jeff at nationals though so some more seat time will be needed for sure.

I'll have some video up middle of this week. Stopped to get sometime to eat in the way home and won't get home till 12am and I gota work tomorrow lol.

one thing I know ill be changing is taking off the ZL1 addon rock guards. They work great for what they are intended for but stick out a little too far. Twice on day one in the slalom it hit a cone. Based off where it hit it would have skated along the side skirt and a good chance it wouldnt have knocked the cone over lol.

Congrats on your tour win. I was following on sololive. I think that course would have really suited my car. Remind me, what's this about ice mode.

Thanks!

Talkin with Phillip he was saying it's less invasive in the 1le and non existent on the 5th gen z28 and it's all because of the original equipment tires it was tested with. It's basically programming. You take my car with the good year all season on it and then put the RE71r on their, it's grip is increased a lot so when the brake locks up a bit it just thinks you're on ice I guess. You could reporgram it if you knew how but unless there is a tsb about it it's not legal to do.

As a separate point of comparison, the guy who won BS, Tom DeYoung, is a local to me and we run events together quite often. He's typically .2-.3 faster than I on a similar course.

Yeah, "ice mode" is supposedly less severe with the 1LE but still happens. As you stated they seemed to think its made worse when changing the tire setup, but the worst ice mode I've ever experienced autocrossing was with the factory tires on my 1SS. It was still prevalent when I ran F-Street on RE71s, but has gotten significantly better in STP trim on the Rival-S.

It's a misnomer to call it ice mode, because it's not really about ice. It's when the car thinks there is a split-mu condition. When the left and right side tires are on surfaces with drastically different levels of grip, it does a slow pressure ramp to try and keep the car straight. (eg. if you dip two tires into the dirt on the side of a 2-lane road, and then slam on the brakes in a panic... the car would yaw back toward oncoming traffic because of the grip differences between the two surfaces if it actually did what you were asking)

Unfortunately, autocross can make the car fall into this logic if you are under heavy lateral load and quickly apply brakes. Think of a slalom exit being very close to a tight sweeper. You need to begin braking before the car is straight and settled. This type of situation would almost never happen on a race track. It also wouldn't happen if you don't slalom at the limit, heh.

In STP my car transitions so quickly that I usually have a viable window where I can get the car to complete the previous transition before I apply brakes, avoiding this condition. The Rival-S also combines inputs a little better than the RE71 so it can deal with light braking while still under heavy lateral load without triggering the split-mu logic.

Yeah it's something I've leaned to drive around. Still happens from time to time but oh well

Very nice! Can you elaborate on your suspension, wheel, and tire setup for this event?

Thanks.
