I was driving my 4th Gen TA Firehawk, wife and baby with me, on the way back from seeing family and got pulled over in Norwich NY by a State Trooper for no front plate. His first question was "What do you use to polish you car with?"
I told him Zaino and he gave me his personal business card, he was a Zaino distributor. He let me go and of course for years I bought from him.

That's the Readers Digest condensed version. He never asked for my license or registration.

One night I was out giving my Mark 1 Escort Mexico rally car (google it, Mk 1 Escorts were the staple of European rallying for many years!!) a bit of a shakedown before an event.

I was doing 85mph in an area posted as a 30mph but it was a quiet country road in the middle of the night with no-one else for miles around. I got to a small hump back bridge that was a great test to make sure the dampers are all in good shape, hit the bridge and got about 2 feet of air under the tires. As I am in mid air I see a Traffic Car coming the other way (UK equivalent of a State Trooper)

Of course he turns on his lights and sirens, executes a U turn and chases me down.

I pull over and am very polite and respectful - let's be honest I was doing over 80mph in the air on a posted 30mph piece of road, so there is not much point arguing :-)

It quickly becomes clear that the Cop is a gearhead who loves rallying, so the conversation quickly gets away from my "indiscretion" to talking about the car.

After about 15 minutes, he gave me the best excuse for speeding I have ever heard: "Well sir I am going to let you go now. I am a Traffic Officer which means my responsibility extends to offenses on the public highway. As you were in the air when I saw you then it would be the responsibility of the Civil Aviation Authority to pursue charges against you. Have a good evening Sir."

And with that he jumped into his car laughing and drove off into the night.

I don't care what country you live in, that would not happen in 2017 :-) :-)

Great story!

I was pulled over a few weeks after getting my Camaro. I did not come to a complete stop when turning right onto a busy road. Cop was at light and I saw him at the last second, before making the turn.

As soon as the light turned green he sped up real fast and pulled me over. Looked at my license which still shows I am from Ohio, even though I have been in Texas for two years now. I played the dumb card about not knowing front plates are needed.

For whatever reason he only gave me a warning for everything, he was a state trooper also. Nice guy!
