The nanny state speaks. The OP is just pulling your chains. If not so what. Sounds like the have to wear a helmet crowd. Maybe he will get a bigger settlement this way.

Texting and driving is way more dangerous and how many text and drive?

With out Google, when did the first head restraints start showing up? My '67 goat had none. The 69 goat did. Three point belts where even later.

Yeah? And car crash fatalities have decreased dramatically because of safety features such as headrests and three point belts. And yes, texting and driving is dangerous, nobody is arguing that. It also has nothing to do with the stupid act and consequences OP is subjecting himself to.

Congrats on lowering your car's safety standard to those of the 1950s. Next thing to go: seat belts. Who needs em?

Not arguing but just saying most folks here, going off on this, probably text while driving or talk on the phone while driving. Which is Way more dangerous than this. My apologies to those that do not. ALSO the OP may have a low sitting height

Texting while driving is idiotic and risks everyone else on the road. Removing headrests is less idiotic, but idiotic nonetheless. Not sure why you mentioned texting though really. But moving on, yes, hopefully OP was kidding.

American cars got modern retractable 3 point belts by '74 I believe.

Did you give any thought to the airbags deploying during a front or side collision???I hope you're just joking and pulled them to have them embroidered or something...If not you've got to be the dumbest person to ever post on this site!!!Once your neck is broke vision want be a problem, you'll be able to do a 360*...At least put the passengers headrest back in...

Hahahahaha!!! If I can stop belly laughing at the idea long enough may I point out that maybe the OP is confused about the purpose of the device because everyone is calling it a "head rest" as if it is a place to "rest your head" instead of the proper name which is "HEAD RESTRAINT!" On the bright side, since you will have such great visibility with out the pesky "head rest" in your way, you might try removing the side view mirrors, you know for aerodynamic benefit.
