I'll take those off your hands in a heartbeat haha!!! I'm gonna get hammered for this, but I think the 6th gen's look real aggressive and nice with the loavers. Yes, they are an appearance mod, so some will just jump and so "oh, it's ricey because it has no added benefits" but it's just there to make the car look better (for some).

Nothing wrong with you wanting them. You pay for the car so do what you want to it

While I have you here, just let me say thank you. I watched all of your videos on the sixth gen Camaro with great interest as I was researching my purchase. Thanks for your great work for the Camaro community in general and for the forum. As a result, I'm a new, proud owner of a 6th Gen Car and I absolutely love it.

Awesome to hear Paul. I too cringed earlyu on and than I saw them in the image I posted and was like "damn, those don't look bad at all".

On the 6th gen I see less function and feel they are more about style. They do look aggressive, but for me...... teeter on that fine line of "you went to far with the mods" look

I'm looking forward to seeing it installed and some pictures outside. I'm also curious about visibility with it on. I'm in for more product feedback from you!
Visibility is shockingly not bad.

No one should hammer anyone for their own personal design decisions. Its fine to dislike something, but people can be jerks with words.

Hmmm... well, to be honest at first when I clicked on this thread I thought 'This is probably going to be hideous, etc' because I've only ever seen a few cars that I thought louvers would look good on - and those were Mustangs and MOPARs from the late '60's and early '70's.

However - once I saw the pic and watched the vid, I've got to say I actually like them. I don't know if I would put them on a 6th gen if I owned on just yet but that is only because I would like to see them on a car in real life, but I must admit I do like them and think the angular parts of the louvers are very much in line with the rest of the car.

All in all, I can't wait to see more of them on the actual car.

i don't think it looks too bad, although i think when they came out decades ago they were to shade the inside, and now we have tinted windows.

I love how this looks, but I am also biased. I've had MRT louvers on my 5th gen for years now. And yes, louvers in general are a highly polarizing subject.

I haven't gotten any negative remarks in public. In person, I've gotten asked about or complimented on them. On forums, it's about 66% positive and 33% negative, mainly because I tried to work it in carefully with the theme of my car, which is a mix of gloss and matte black (aside from white rally stripes, which keep it from being fully murdered out.) My matte black louvers are balanced out by matte black rims.

In Sledge's case, a lot of people point out how it matches his spoiler well. This brings up what I think is a key point: The louvers have to match something else on the car, or else it grabs attention a little *too* much, if that makes sense. I'd like to think that there are ways to carefully use louvers with other mods to kind of get people's heads to turn and wonder for a split second if it was like that from the factory. In many cases, it changes the character of the car enough to make people wonder what the hell it is or if its even something exotic.

On the Camaro, granted that the greenhouse is so aggressively narrow, the louvers do a lot to kind of accentuate the horizontal aspect of the car and make it look a lot more planted and aggressive. I want to say almost like a Lamborghini.

BTW, why do people not give Lambos crap for having louvers? They are louvers by definition... maybe just not the stereotypical ones you'd think of from the 80s.

After hearing some mumblings about people looking at retro-style louvres, I'll have to admit I too was pretty skeptical of what they might look like. I definitely didn't care for the plain / straight-across style from the 70s/80s, which added to my skepticism. However, this set IKON has put together looks way cooler than I expected. I am so pleasantly surprised, that I think I may actually "like" them...

My only concern would be the potential wind noise created by them...

Yeah. Sorry about the size if it's too big. I'm including one front shot because you can see straight through to the rear glass and see how the visibility is still pretty good.

I like them in general.

My questions are:

1. How much effect does it have on rear visibility? The ones in my dad's '86 Mustang were fine to see out of.

2. How easily do they come off for cleaning? Are they engineered to be taken off often or do you think the hardware will wear out over time?

3. I'd also be curious to hear if anyone is getting rattles from them...that would be a deal breaker for me.

Feel the exact same way when I saw these. The more I think about it, the less I want it too. Weight, cleaning, and that "a little too far" look mentioned all add up a no, but still cool.

1. None really. The Camaro has crappy visibility to begin with, but all the slats look like a thin line across the rear glass. At most you're losing maybe 5% of the view. Rearward visibility is actually better in the rain from these.

2. It depends on who makes them and what style. I think the ones Sledge has have 4 adhesive pads with clips and you have to lift it all as one unit. MRT louvers have 2 hinged pads at the top, and 2 bottom ones that are just studs for it to clip onto, meaning you can lift it upward to clean the glass. There are prop rods too.

The MRT latches do tend to break easily, since these are plastic and aren't part of the louvers themselves. You can see them pretty well in my first photo -- they are at the very bottom of the greenhouse's corners, near the trunk, and are rectangular in shape. It's $15 per replacement set, so I bought a few spares.

MRT hasn't formally announced any louvers for the 6th gen, AFAIK. But they tend to be better quality versus ABS plastics.

3. So long as you install them properly, they are on there pretty tight. I was driving with a broken bottom latch for a while, and even then it wasn't really moving around.

1.) You can see out the window pretty freaking well still. I will assume it depends how high you sit up in your chair, but I was honestly shocked how much you can still see.

2.) 9 bolts. Will take you probably 5-10 min to take them off and clean and put them back on.

3.) These are designed to not rattle. they have a foam layer between the product and the window.
