Much more dangerous than a Mustang leaving cars and coffee.

No, no you can't. That would mean you could reverse time, and we all know only Superman can do that.

Shit happens. I get people trying to race me daily, I always tell myself it's not worth it then you see shit like this and it just reaffirms your choices. (I know they weren't racing, point is stuff happens quick and without warning)

Very sad, but yeah there's nothing to keep in "perspective" here. Usually that phrase is used when you're talking about something in relativity to something else to gauge its magnitude. For example, "The Camaro driver was acting like an idiot. For perspective, a witness stated he was doing donuts prior to the crash." I think you're confusing it to too broadly mean a "lesson". Perspective can lead to learning lessons, but not all lessons are due to perspective.

We have incredibly powerful cars. Knowing when, where, and how to use that power is what must be kept in perspective.
You mean "must be kept in consideration." Again, there is no relative comparison or interrelation being drawn between two things from which to draw a perspective.

perspective

The interrelation in which a subject or its parts are mentally viewed; also : point of view

First of all, let me be sincere in stating I appreciate your attempt to diffuse some of the tone of this thread by suggesting I meant or needed to use a different word. Thing is, I usually choose my words wisely and I definitely intended to use and stand by the use of the word perspective. I did not mean consideration, but I see how that could fit. I did not mean lesson, because I don't think this incident teaches any of us anything we don't already know.

Perspective is defined (by Merriam-Webster) as

a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view:

My ENTIRE point here is that we have some very powerful equipment here. Whether it's a 300+ hp V6 or a 455 hp V8 or a 650 hp beast. And these are great things to have. The perspective, or point of view, that we need to consider...and I think we all do at some level... is how quickly losing control of this kind of power can go bad.

Absolutely no doubt that the guy driving this particular Camaro was exercising horrible judgement. But 20 years ago, that could easily have been me. The "perspective" here is to view the available power with some respect for what could happen should we lose control of it, especially through poor judgement.

And so there we have the lecture that rontammy0 was hoping not to have to endure. Sorry 'bout that.

Holy crap, That is terrible! That Malibu wasn't even on the road. You just don't expect a car flying at you like a missile when your sitting in a parking lot.

Not sure why these posts attract such ruffled feathers....

Sure...any car can kill someone if driven to fast...but let's face it; Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, Challenger, etc, etc all sell on an image of being "sporty", "cool", and "fast". The chances of something like this happening due to a little fun (speeding, etc) is a bit more likely as opposed to a mechanical failure, or unavoidable accident...

I am not telling anyone here that they are negligent, irresponsible drivers just because they drive Camaros...nor is the OP, I think.

It's simply that this video, and others that have been posted, remind us that a little bit of fun can turn into a lot a bit of tragedy very quickly. :( Not to mention the two less Chevys on the road...Please drive safe...and wear your seat belts (as the Fbodfather always reminds us).

***EDIT*** Mr. Wyndham, I see you are in Buffalo....my hometown. I am overdue for a visit. Next time I head that way I will probably give you a warning, especially if I am driving 50 SS

Moral of the story: practice drifting in parking lots before applying to the streets
