The Viper will double in value over the next 10 years? Strong words. Hard to see that happening.

But those 1st gen cars can be had for under 30 grand easily. When new, they started in the low to mid 50k range -in early 90s dollars. With inflation, that is approximately equal to about $90k today. That doesn't bode well for them being any kind of investment. People have been bemoaning the increasing sophistication of cars for close to a century now. But they're a tiny minority. For everybody else? They want things to be faster and easier. Now if you are looking to actually invest your money, contact a financial planner and get some stocks and mutual funds and whatnot. Even the low risk packages should double your money in a decade. And with a little more risk (or luck) over the span of 15 years, your money can quadruple. Besides, if a real investment doesn't double your money ... its a pretty safe bet that cars aren't going to be going up in value too much either. Old cars go up in value largely because people with lots of money to spare are interested in buying them. The better the stock market does, the more people with lots of money there will be.

I think the Viper is totally BA. Given the choice between it and a Corvette, I'd take the Viper just because they are not nearly as common in my area.

A lot of people don't hate the car itself, they hate that srt moved away from dodge and trying to make it there own brand. That pretty much killed there rep and it showed when they wanted to team back up with dodge for that short stint. People hate the brand branching out and then coming back because they didn't get the sales they expected. With today's supercars, the viper could not keep up with the competition which was another factor.
I love the viper and would snag one in a heartbeat if the funds were available. The actions that were taken decided the fate of the viper. Look at RAM trucks, they are literally doing the same thing the viper did.

10-15 years to double 40k to 80k is a strong statement your right. 15-20 years sounds better maybe closer to 20. The only reason why I think that is because other vehicles that are old school, have appeal, and "don't quite make them like this anymore" that have shot up in value over the last 5-10 years, and actually double! Are cars like the toyota fj's and Porsche 911 air cooled. I can see the same happening with these. They aren't like corvettes, seen everywhere and bought my many people. there are no cars v10 rear wheel drive and manual with no assists. These cars will shoot up in value. Look at the mitsubishi evolution, Honda s2000, stuff like the 03 mustang cobra. Or e46 m3. Cars that were unique and nothing made equivalent to them. They stop being made and shoot up in value

Not sure what you are trying to say that ram trucks are languishing because of the separation from Dodge and that is it not working just like the Viper? or it did work so they tried the same with the SRT brand.

RAM did the same thing that srt did but trucks are a lot more popular and easier to sell than the viper so with RAM they'll have better luck. The viper was expensive for most and never really had a backbone like a lot of the other supercar manufacturers other than having the dodge name. Now if srt stayed with dodge and had a bigger RD department, maybe the viper would still be around and can compete against the competition. It would've been interesting on what they could've came up with.

Almost got me a Viper few years back but the high dash and small interior turned me off, also the crazy long hood. If the Viper was a rear engined, I'd have one in my garage right now. I hope Corvette finally goes REAR ENGINE.
