Yeh...and don't forget the butter to grease your pockets. Putting 10qts in that engine in just plane stupid, and you have the paperwork that says they put that much in there. Should get you a new car.

the paperwork problem doesn't really seem to match the problems with the car he experienced. Seems like there is more going on. Would be helpful to know the DTC since he got a check engine light.

Still waiting on them to get back to me today about what kind of damage was actually done. Being that the engine only had 2500 miles on it, any kind of major rebuild that might have to happen I think I'd almost prefer to have them just replace it.
Unfortunately didn't get a chance to grab the DTC as I went right from stranded on the highway to getting it towed back to the dealer last night. From my experience though a flashing check engine light almost always means the engine put itself into limp mode. |

They will fix it, they will not replace it. I still would box up the whole thing and take it to another dealer. I would not let those guys touch my car one more time.

certainly after getting it running I wouldn't show back up there again. I assume they got you in some sort of rental? They should be in a hurry to get something going after paying for one of those daily. |

I'm done with dealerships. Last week they drove my car 58 miles for a warranty service on my stereo...and an empty tank. They later asked me to come back so they could fill my tank. They had a person accompany me to the gas station...im guessing they knew better to ask me for my keys this time...

I think there is an excellent chance the engine will be replaced because the labor cost to rebuild the engine will be too high and few dealers have proper facilities to do it. Taking it to another dealer is a good idea.

assuming the dealer admits to their mistake in training/oversight, and say they will make your car RIGHT again I'd give the dealer a chance... |

There are too many unknowns here. The OP said something about "after 7 hrs." Does that mean he drove it for a while and then 7 hrs later it had problems? I think just overfilling the oil would not ruin the engine. If oil foamed up through the PCV valve and got into the intake it would smoke and dirty things up, but I think the main bits of the engine would be Ok. |

Not meaning to hijack your thread in anyway, but I thought you would get a kick out of this. Took my stang to get an oil change, and the service guy actually asked me how many quarts it took and should he put full synthetic or a blend in it.
I stood there like o.0 for about 3 mins staring at him. Sorry until I get my Camaro all I can share is my Ford horror stories. |
