I used this on long highways trips..of course once you put the car back in drive it does return back to afm engaged. It will stay disengaged as long as you want...using the paddles of course.

Not with this gen. It will definitely engage AFM again if the criteria is met, even in full manual mode.

Anyone else have this problem or knows what is causing it?

So when you put the aftermarket exhaust on, did you keep the two AFM valves? They are the ones just in front of the diff, if I remember correctly.

Have you tried it.....this was a long kept secret on the 5th gen before I stumbled on a small post about it. Almost till the end there was people telling me it wouldnt do it. Even had a member contact one of the designing engineers to try and disprove me. Im not saying it will work on the 6th gen.....but ive been down this road already with people saying it wont work without auctually trying it. And in manual mode it does engage,...its paddle shift mode you can....or maybe cant disable it. If you already tried the technique i described then i guess gm changed it up. But if you havnt........

Indeed this week even. I use the paddles to keep it in 6th on the highway to warm the car up since I don't typically drive far. In 6th gear cruising AFM does engage. They probably revised the tuning for the trans this gen.

Ok your right if you just shift normally using your paddles it will engage in 6th gear. Its the gear down one gear then up again that disables it. So next time your on the highway...really this works at any speed.... once you change into 6th....gear down to 5th then back up to 6th then continue on your way and see if it comes on. Im not sure you did that but your right they may have changed....plus its an 8 speed.....let me know because now im curious.

Should have clarified. I don't shift down to hold it in 6th with manual mode. I put it in manual mode shortly after leaving the house and continue manually shifting until the oil is up to temp. So I'll try downshifting once it engages then go back up a gear and see if it engages again after it settles.

I just keep mine in 8 gear and haven't seen it go into DOD mode. It stays in 8 Cyl mode on the hwy.

Yes I kept the AFM values, in the rear section I put a y pipe on each side then the inner exhaust pipe I put flowmaster outlaws on and the outer pipe is just an exhaust pipe with no muffler. When in track mod it's loud. Second cats are off.

No cell. I may get the tune to turn off the AFM.

In the 5th gen, it takes a DOWNSHIFT to make AFM stay off.

Just sayin'.

So, my M6 is still on order...does this AFM stuff get disabled by the same downshift/upshift trick?
