Maybe power will feel a little better in your 5th gen, but the 6th gen SS 1LE will FAR exceed the 5th gen in every other way! The chassis' aren't even close to comparable. Same story with interior, technology, suspension, and brakes!

im running BMR bushings front and rear, delrin cradle, BMR toe and trailing arms, and front rear sway bars. 275/315 tires. will the 1LE still handle better?
im at 477hp 465ftlbs with 3.91 gears
from what im reading now lt headers is only going to net me 15-20hp? these cars dyno stock at 402hp 402ftlbs. so after headers and intake id only be looking at 420hp.
im wondering how much slower the 6th gen is going to be from my 5th gen. I ws thinking that with headers I could match what my 5th gen is now but it looking like I would need to cam it to do it.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

The much better chassis on the 6th gen means it will handle better even though you have done some good suspension mods, and unless you are running R compound tires the new GY Super Car 3s are most likely better than what you are currently running.

Yes it will still feel less powerful but other than straight line speed the new 1LE should be a way better driving car. And consider that the new 1LE stock does 4.1 zero-60 and a 12.4 quarter compared to the 5th gen ZL1s 4.0 zero-60 and 12.1 quarter (that's for a manual), that's PRETTY DAMN CLOSE... do you think your car is quicker than a 5th gen ZL1 in a straight line? Either way you can't go wrong with the new 1LE, unless you have the cash and want a ZL1 haha

OP. I did what you're thinking. Sold my gen 5 LS3 with cam and full bolt-ons, 3.91 gears and Pfadt spring and sway bars. It left my hands making 476 rwhp.

My stock gen 6 is faster and handles much better. I don't have time slips to prove that but I do have some back roads where I can cut loose and let it rip. The gen 6 is at a higher mph at the same spots vs. the gen 5 (both straight line and through the curves).

The gen 6 is put together right - great chassis, great engine, less weight, much better interior and technology. I have no regrets at all. I miss my beastly gen 5 from time to time but that goes away every time I fire up the LT1 and head down the road.

Good luck - I don't think you can go wrong. You have an awesome car but if you want something new the gen 6 will treat you right.

Good choice. I ran a buddies vengenace built 5th Gen 1LE FBO and cams around 480 whp when i was bone stock and jumped out on him and had him until about 135 and he started pulling because of the top end gains from the cam. Now with intake and ported TB and IM i've probably picked up 30-35 whp he wouldn't be able to beat me

There is a similar thread about modded Gen 5 vs Gen 6 cars I also agree with others, new 1LE will feel a bit slower since you have a lot of power so on highway pulls or drag racing it will most likely pass the Gen 6 SS. That being said, Gen 6 1LE is slightly faster than Gen 5 Z28 (even without the lighter 19" wheels, Trofeo R tires and those carbon ceramic brakes) at West coast tracks (driven by Randy Pobst).

This is what I posted in the other thread:

My friend's 2014 Camaro 1LE (LS3 with Header, intake and tune) vs my 2017 Camaro SS 1LE (bone stock LT1 engine) Same dyno, different days but very similar conditions:

Cars are identical up top but the low end torque advantage of the 1LE is very apparent
