This is also true. With a flat road, and lots of distance.....maybe 180s-190s could be reached in 6th? (No idea)

I assumed that at least the manual couldn't do 200 mph because of the 3.73 gearing. The viper and zr1 have 3.31 gears in them. The 2013-2014 gt500's were switched from 3.73 in the 2011-2012 to 3.31 as well to get the claimed 200+ mph.

that spoiler looks good for downforce , bad for top speeds, I know tannot that extreme but look at the top speed difference between the acr viper and the non acr model.

The Viper and ZR1 both have a significant aero dyanamic advantage over the ZL1. I can't remember the ratio between horse power, weight, and coefficient of friction, but it take lots of horse power to over come weight and aro dynamics.

When you look at the video of the auto on the "ring", even then it looks like it's struggling to get over 180. It appears that top end performance wasn't on Chevy's radar, even with 10 gears to work with. I hope all those ratios helps in knocking down some impressive 1/4 mile times. If GM truly got 127 mph out of their a10, this car should run very low 11s on street tires.
We already know it's going to shine on the road course.

Found this:
At a few thousand dollars less than the 707-horsepower Dodge Charger Hellcat, the ZL1 is likely the cheapest new car with a top speed beyond 200 mph. Chevrolet isn't saying anything about the maximum velocity (at least not yet), but come on. This much power? With a lot less frontal area than the broad-beamed Charger? Two bills at the top end is inevitable. Here: http://www.msn.com/en-ph/autos/news/...ive/ar-AAlEq0x Cant wait to see one run on the salt, or at one of the other top speed events! |

Strange...it looks like it's mostly downhill from the video.

From timestamp 6:48 to 7:08 it's an uphill run...and the grade in the second half of that segment is quite steep. Then, immediately after the bridge, it goes downhill slightly, and the car climbs from 177 to 181 in a couple of seconds. But there's only a short distance before he needs room to brake for the next corners.
I look at the C6 ZR1, which reached 183mph @ 6550 rpms on that same straight...so 181 @ 5300 rpms out of the much more blunt instrument that is the ZL1....not bad! I would very much like to see what the automatic version can do on a flat straight, or one of those huge oval top-speed tracks like Volkswagen has. I still don't think top speed is very important, though.
