If the manual suggests doing this change, it may be best to have the dealer do it so there are no "issues" down the road. The eLSD isn't cheap, so I may have my dealer do it. This way if I have any issues down the road I can be like "the fluid was changed at the proper time by you". No possible warranty hassles then.

probably not wrong, but since they're saying it's okay... i'm okay with it. i'm thinking of having the dealership do it as well for a better paper trail. although taking/printing photos of the process and sticking them with other records should also suffice and save a few bucks. I've never done it but it doesn't sound too difficult (famous last words

I read that too, but I did work the car pretty hard on my two runs in the mountains. So I'm going to change it at 1,500 and I might change it again after the first full track day.

What was your process for changing? Have the dealership do it?

I can give you the low down at Laguna if you want, swapping diff fluid is fairly straight forward.

It comes out pretty milky and generally with significant shavings on the drain plug. Go check out the thread on Corvette Forum and there is a link to inexpensive Dextron from Amazon and a $6.95 cheap quart bottle pump to get it in the diff easily.

I also expect you will have a lot of extra room under the Camaro. The Corvette gets kinda tight back there due to the transaxle pushing right up to the rear bulkhead and rear sway bar.

For some reason the Corvettes have both the fill and drain plugs totally loose. They easily can be removed from awkward positions with a couple of fingers.

It sure looks easy but I had seen some people using transfer pumps and some seem to do it without. Wasn't sure what the minimalists were doing to fill it up. I don't want you make a rookie mistake with it since I'm new to it.

I may just use a large syringe to fill it... the transfer pump gives me an impression that there's a lot left in the tubing and less of an idea of what's actually making it into the car...

Corvette Z06 uses 3 quarts. I think you are in the 1.x qt range.

$9 pump that fits in the quart bottle.

The cheapo pumps were best, just grab one from your local store.

It's very easy and inexpensive. Amazon has both the fluid and a pump that fits standard quart bottles.

15-20 min max

- Jack the car up in the rear
- The fill plug is on the drivers side about half way up, the drain is on the bottom in the center
- They both remove with a 3/8" bit socket drive, the fill plug is a little hard to reach, a 5" extension makes it very easy.
- Drain fluid, mine was black at 1200 miles
- Clean both plugs well with a clean rag, again they are magnetic and I had a ton metal fragments on both
- After draining, replace drain plug and attach pump to fresh fluid
- Pump enough in until it begins to weep out of the fill port.
- Some people have mentioned that after filling they drive around to let oil settle and refill, I didn't do this as I replaced about the same amount as I drained
- Tighten fill plug

Since there is such a small amount of fluid, it's easy to contain. I went to the track a few days later and car performed perfectly. There is zero reason why anyone should pay a dealer for this, it's so simple and you get factory fluid for $18/quart on amazon.

Nobody using BG fluids here? This is what most mustang owners are using.

I think with the eLSD being a pricey piece, we all just want to 100% stick with what GM says to use.
