I have a more fool proof method. My car is never brought back to the dealer unless absolutely necessary for a recall.

I prefer the battery version to the capacitor version (I have both) because the battery version will power the camera for a little while after the car is shut off while the capacitor version stops recording the second you turn the car off and open the door. Search A118 or B40 and you get a bunch. I have not had a failure yet but I do know it happens with these cams. My oldest is over 2 years old. I did have an issue with it where it stopped overwriting once but a reset and a reformat of the card fixed it. And this is in the Phoenix heat.

Also, dashcamtalk.com is a great forum for anyone interested in dash cams.
Thats a simple fix!

My StreetGuardian is connected to a constant power source(hardwired) and is always powered no matter if you turn the car off (24 hour surveillance).

The hardwire kit($12) protects the car battery from drainage, so it stops the camera if you get under certain voltage. It has motion detection so I get footage of everything that happens in front my car instead of hours of running for no reason(but you can adjust that in your settings).

The battery that usually comes in these cameras dont last more than 10 minutes(idk about the more expensive ones) so is not worth the risk of failure during summers(hot temperature) thats why i went with the super capacitor.

That's the problem - I changed my own oil for the first time ever with this car and was planning to never bring it in, but then came along this transmission oil cooler recall.

I know there are lots of really great techs out there that would never dream of doing something like that and I feel sorry that they get lumped in with the bad ones but dash cams will help the good guys too.
Same thing with dash cameras and body cameras now catching cops abusing people. Even with those we still are catching a lot; imagine how much worse it was before that.

I have the same dash cam too, I love it! I did not know that if you hardwired it that it had that feature of preventing from full battery drainage, right now I have it plugged in to the cig/charger port. I will definitely be looking into hardwiring this bad boy. I would love that 24 hour surveillance. Was it difficulty to do?

Mechanic took my 2017 SS for a bit of a joyride

Hey all,

Wanted to share my experience with a shop I tried to research and choose wisely on.

https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/commen...t_of_a_joyride

This was my post on Reddit about it when I shared it with other car enthusiasts. Thought you all might want to read and also see the video.

Get a dashcam people! And talk to as many locals as you can and read as many reviews you can about a shop you take your car to.

I would service a car that new only at dealers, or some shop you know from experience.
