The ZL1 hood WILL NOT fit directly to an SS. If you look closely you can see the bodylines on the ZL1 hood will not line up to the body lines on the SS fascia. The only way to put an OEM ZL1 hood on an SS is if you also buy ZL1 fenders (they are wider than the SS) and front fascia (to correctly line up with the hood and wider fenders). Also, if you do that your front tires will be offset by a decent amount inboard if you are using OEM SS wheels. Food for thought. The least expensive way to get the "look" will be an aftermarket ZL1 style hood that matches the bodylines of an SS fascia.

You can paint carbon fiber parts if you don't like the exposed weave.

That's very true but it's a lot of money to spend on an item and not show off its qualities. I'll just wait patiently for someone to make an aftermarket zl1 replica hood.

So now thats its confirmed . Zl1 hood is not a direct replacement. Where are we going to get an aftermarket look alike or for me the fireball hood?

That's what I want to know. The Anderson Composites type-az hood is nice but I personally would prefer it in fiberglass. Price would probably be half if they made a fiberglass version. Maybe RK Sport will make one if there is enough interest.
