Love my V6 RS. It's fast, handles incredibly, and sounds amazing with the dual-mode (NPP) exhaust. Definitely get that option if you go with the V6.

Here's the most-accurate sounding YouTube video I can find.

My only complaint is the intrusive active fuel management (AFM) which is the system that automatically cuts off 2 cylinders when trying to conserve fuel. At least with my car, any type of light acceleration when in 4cyl mode results in an unpleasant rumble through my feet. Definitely test this though, it may just be my car, as others have noted that they can't tell when in V4 mode. Also, AFM is only a feature on automatic transmissions. If you're looking manual, it won't be a problem.

I wish I would have gotten that exhaust... listening to it makes me want it. I may have to find a take off and have it installed.

I can't tell when v4 mode is active.

I personally would be happy with any engine choice.
Yes, reality is shown in the numbers that GM made sure we all read, or at least the numbers are very close to reality. More HP and faster 0-60. But I would say most of us go with feel rather than numbers. Like, at what point do you turn the heater on, when you feel it's cold or when the the thermometer hits a certain number?
I also would be happy with any engine choice, that body style is just superb. That's why I still have my 89 RS

I test drove both on the same day, one after another. First the V8, that comes standard with the performance exhaust. The V6 I tested had the Dual mode and I tell you it sounded almost as good.

While I was driving the V6 I noticed it feels more nimble with better steering and I said so to the salesman who was riding with me. When I got home I started reading about it a little bit and came upon Car & Driver's review of the V6, and they said the exact same thing. The V8 is almost 350 lbs heavier, which is like having 3 passengers on the V6. So, the "feeling" is not that off, imo. The weight makes quite a difference.

Most fun roads in states that people like living in are going to have the common problem of other cars also driving on the road.

Lots of canyons in southern california. It's completely random if/when you can manage to get on the road alone.

Gotta hit some states where nobody lives. Probably lots of places above arizona, and above new mexico (including new mexico).

Riding by yourself, you're going to be driving a true sports car. It's a performer in every way and much better than a V6 ever needed to be. If someone's riding along and they're around 200lbs, it definitely makes a difference. The 6 just doesn't have the raw torque to offset a big weight gain like that.

But driving to work and back? FUN. I bought mine in August and I still look forward to driving to work. V6 or not it will smoke anything outside of a recent V8(recent being when V8s broke the 400hp barrier in 2009). I'm 42 and I laugh at anybody in the "it's gotta be a V8" crowd. I wonder what point of reference these guys are using. I really don't think there were very many V8s built from 1974-2009 that were as fast as this car in bone stock form.

You don't have to buy premium fuel and your insurance won't go up by much. I don't like verts but the important thing is to get exactly the car you want for a price that you can live with.
