I get tired of people saying that when you swap tires your car is no longer stock. If you go to a better tire, your car is still stock, you just have a different tire. Well I tracked with a set of BFG AS2 all season tires because that was all i had at the time. Was my 1LE no longer stock because i went to a crappier tire?
One of the issues with "stock" w/o an oversight and governance body is, it becomes an opinion and hotly debated.

If I put a drag radial on my car and got an 11.8x 1/4 mi from it, I could not say that a stock 2016 SS runs 11.8x because they do not.

When talking about tires on a road course, you're talking about the only thing holding your car to the racing surface. By changing the adhesion compound, tread pattern and/or size stats, you are no longer 100% stock as that tire did not come on that wheel for that car and a tire absolutely will alter a car's performance. So, for that, you can't say you're stock when comparing times as it makes the comparison invalid.

Yeeesh.. I mouth dropped when I looked it up the first time.

I've yet to see one in person though and I've seen 918 Weissachs, a new 488, a Ferarri GTO, multiple McLarens (even an SLR in orange), an SLS AMG, a Carerra GT, a freakin' CCXR of all things, a Plymouth Superbird and a handful of other rarities.. and still no GT350R. H*ll, there was even an F40 out at one of the local shows.

Has anyone seen any floating around in the wild anywhere? I've seen plenty of GT350s.

My dealership actually had the very first 350R delivery lol it was a black with red strips, second one I have seen was white, plus one yellow track pack 350. 350R is in my profile picture next to my Slow goat.

Developing a custom cf wheel and tire package for the "R" is innovation, not cheating. It's the halo trim option of the halo mustang, it damn well better have something special about it.

1LE shouldn't get cf wheels, too risky for mostly street driving and most people's wallet. The Z28, if they make one, should follow fords lead on the wheels.

Nice... Have you seen them around on the streets or local tracks? Or are they still sitting on the lot?

--- actually a serious question here.

If you ever see him out and get it on video. I'd like to see that...

The CF wheels are kick ass, and I applaud Ford for putting them on a production (limited production really) car. They did it, and maybe one day we'll see a Camaro sporting some CF wheels as well. If Ford never did it, it would just be that much longer till we may have seen it show up on a production Chevy.

Good going Ford! Keep up the good work. The next Camaro (hopefully a Z/28) now has a target to shoot for. If that 350R can lap 1.6 seconds than the 1LE, you can bet the Z will be looking to blow that number away.
...and this^^^

The GT350R is a kick ass track car. If it didn't come out and push the envelope there would be no incentive for other companies.

I even think it looks awesome

Saw a GT350R last month at the Gingerman Track event that was held to coincide with the 50th event.
'Space Grey' with Ontario plates. Looked nice.

There's no doubt the 350R is an awesome vehicle and the fact that it comes with CF wheels is a huge asset. My hat is off to Ford for doing so. Regardless of the cost though, as cool as the VooDoo engine is, I have heard about several engine failures while tracking them. I have heard this first hand from owners as well as other tracks where the cars lost their engine while on course. Ford for the most part has been good about replacing the engines but there hasn't been a specific cause of failure determined yet. Officially anyways.

That is a big deterrent to me.

Anyways, to steer this topic back on topic, the new 1LE is a HUGE performance value. And yes, tires can make a night and day difference in a car's performance.
