When you see pictures like that with everything exposed and realize just what it takes to assemble one of these machines, then think about the engineering, and design that goes into every single little tiny piece, it makes you wonder how on earth they can sell them so cheap!
The next time your in your Camaro, or any car/truck for that matter, look around at every little part, every gauge, every radio dial, every button and number, every thing you can see and touch, not to mention the thousands of parts you can't see or touch, then think of the thousands of manhours that goes into each and every one of them to make them work and fit etc! It really is unbelievable that they redesign and change models every few years! Crazy! |

The tour of the plant during the Camaro 50th Anniversary Celebration on 8/18 was very cool. We got to spend as much time as we wanted and there were people stationed every 30 or 40 feet to answer any questions you might have. Some folks spent over two hours watching them build cars. All of the workers were dressed in "Camaro Fifty" shirts. It was fun watching the line where both of our cars, ATS and 2SS, were built. It gives you a whole new appreciation of what it takes to build and assemble a car.
As successful as the tour was and considering that this was the second test of it, I hope they do make it a regular happening. All in all, it was a spectacular two day event the Camaro team put on. One that we will remember forever.

A friend of mine got to go on the tour and said it was remarkable how quiet it was inside the plant. Not what you would expect. I went through the old Van Nuys plant a couple of times and it was definitely not something I remember as a quiet experience, but that was over 20 years ago.

My brother and I were two of the fortunate ones that got to take the tour of the plant for the 50th Factory Fest. I was very impressed with the employees attitudes. They all seemed to really enjoy their jobs. I mentioned to one if he ever got bored doing the same job function day in day out. He said no, because the plant rotates them to different work stations so it doesn't get boring. Anyway, after spending almost two enjoyable hours in the plant, I, now, know where I want my ashes scattered after I die. The only problem with that is, the place was so clean the ashes on the floor would, probably, set off some alarm and be automatically cleaned up immediately.
