Its coming from the glass itself i have a 16 rs and noticed the whistle immediately i saw a small gap between the glass and where its stuck too so i taped off the gap drove and didnt hear it ordered a new glass if it doesnt work ill be filling on the gap with black silicone

When reading the first thread about his I initially denied having any whistle, but after paying close attention while driving with the radio off, I think I may have heard what the OP was talking about, even though it was minor. It sounded to me like it was coming from wind passing over the rear view mirror, not from around the window anywhere.

Granted, what I heard may not have been what the OP was experiencing, but all I could hear was a slight whistle sound coming from the mirror.

I can't see how all of a sudden a new set of mirrors fixed it. What did they say was the issue?

It is literally a less than 1/2 degree angle creating a turbulence in the air that hits an odd spot on the window between the mirror. If you walk into your mirror on accident can cause it to make this sound if it wasn't before.

Wow. So basically, every time someone parks too close to me at the ol' grocery store, and bumps my mirror, this problem may occur? Doesn't sound very promising.

Update....dealer is ordering new mirrors. When they arrive, the current mirrors will be taken off and test drove without any mirrors on the car to see if they are actually the issue. If so, the new mirror will be installed and hopefully resolve the issue. I'll keep you posted. Earliest I could get back to the dealer isn't till 8/15.

Just curious, how loud is the whistling noise? Can you hear it over your music?

Yes I can. It is very high pitched and now that I am listening for it, it seems to be the only thing I hear! Well that and the glorious sound of the 6.2L!

It isn't very noticeable for people in the passenger seat that aren't aware of it, and honestly it isn't that loud to begin with, but once you do hear it, you can't unhear it!!

Get your side mirrors replaced... multiple times until the noise goes away. I had GM engineers come out to my shop themselves. I was 12 hours from getting a new car until the issue was fixed....

OEM side mirror caused the issue
replacement mirrors STILL caused the issue
THIRD and final set fixed the issue


Tell you dealer to call me and I will set them straight. Seriously, PM me for my number and Ill gladly chew them the **** out. Or do what I did to mine, "if 4 cars on your lot are lined up and they make the noise, ill donate 1k to charity under your name".. Shut them the **** up. Then called GM directly and got a District manager who got the engineers involved.. The guy was AMAZING and if it wasn't for him, I'd have gone nuts.



Again, tell your dealer to go **** themselves and call me in the process. I'm that angry and passionate about showing them how idiotic they can be sometimes after the ****ing mess they put me through.\


In the end I got one months car payment taken off and a $1500 GM certificate for accessories.

Well damn can you call my dealer I have a 2017 and the first week of having it my MyLink went out and its still out a month later. they said the part is hard to get in because the car is so new so I've been driving with a black screen for almost a month is very irritating. I even call GM and complain to them and they looked up their records and said that it looks like they're doing all they can do for me they're trying their best to speed up the process all I can do is really wait, in the meantime they're not offering me shit!!!
