There is no question but that Ted Jannetty tunes offer valuable increases in power and torque. I was trying hard to run faster in my 5th gen Camaro and Ted helped my ETs by at least 2/10s in the quarter mile. I later added headers, intake manifold and some other things and had a full dyno tune done, and that significantly furthered the power and torque lowering my ETs to a best of 12.4 on street tires. I was pleased with that and thank Ted for the great work.

I have heard from more than one dyno tuner that doing a tune on a relatively stock 2016 Camaro is almost fruitless. Of course he would tune it if you wanted him to, but the payback would be very minimal...just as Jannetty says.

Yes Diesel engines are much easier to increase the power just ad more fuel and it makes more power.

I also do Diesel tuning so I am familiar.

Gasoline engines today leave very little on the table typically less than 2%.

Reducing torque management gives you access to power you already have but don't have access to, so you will get the illusion of more peak power.

I have done a lot of testing on my 16 Camaro and Headers and exhaust are the best area to add substantial bolt on power which also requires tuning.

Next would be a supercharger.

Feel free to ask any questions about tuning.

Ted.
Ted, I have a Trinity 1000 (I think that's the model) Diablo. Can you provide a tune for this device, even though Diablo told me today the 16 Camaro software is still 30-60 days out?

I think some of the responses here are being misinterpreted. I'll tell you first hand the man is the Michelangelo of tuning Camaros. He's as professional as they come and not just a name, he's the one who will actually custom tune your car. Anyone can install hardware and tune a car to make it go fast. How well it's optimized and how long it lasts is another story. It all depends on what your goals are. Ted's got a rock solid reputation and experience with the LT1 and the gen6 Camaro ECU.

I brought my car to him, followed his recommenations and it spins like a top. If you explain your power goals to him and your specific circumstances, he'll tell you what it will take to get it done and what you can expect as a result. I found him to be a very honest, responsive and detail oriented guy who really enjoys what he's doing and isn't just out to make a quick buck. Based on what he's done already with our cars, he may be able to get more accomplished with a handheld than someone starting from scratch. He certainly knows more than I or the vast majority of people here do, so it can't hurt to speak to him directly and hear what he has to say.

Email tunes are convenient and half the automobile world uses them, but with HPTuners there is no reason you shouldn't have your car dynotuned.
Thank you 👍

Hand held tuners are worthless in gas vehicles and a complete waist of money.
I think you are referring to "canned" handheld tuners. These same tuners can also download custom tunes to an ECU the same way any other software does. It is easier to do a custom tune on a dyno for sure but you can get a very good tune working remotely with reputable tuner thru data logging also. There s a big difference in the preloaded tunes you speak of (that I agree are junk) and files built by a good tuner
