All of this is getting really old at this point. Wanting the car turned into waiting for the car and I'm at a stage now where whining about it is the only thing left. It's typical and for anyone who hasn't purchased or ordered a car in a while not out of the ordinary. We live in a society of immediate gratification. They announce things like the iPhone and a few weeks later you get one. The announcement was back in March. That might seem like a long time ago but in the car world it's not. For me the fun factor is running out. It's become an annoyance. I'll still be looking to buy it but I must admit my enthusiasm is waning.

I'm sure most people want to know the price and when ordering starts. The exact build date isn't very important to me.

True enough for this week, until GM starts allowing orders to be put in the system in the next few weeks. Then for the 3 months everyone will be saying, "Why is my order is still at 1100? When is going to move to status 3300?".

Therein lies the dilemma. Would we be content if Chevrolet announced the car in August and had it on the lots by September? Answer no. We will never be satisfied. Perhaps there is a difference between building excitement around the car and at the same time torturing people. Don't get me wrong I've waited this long I'm not walking away but the scales have tipped. In March when I went to NYIAS it was all good. 3 months later it has become a process. God help me if it becomes a chore. The good news is all of that will eventually melt away when I hit the start button for the first time. Time heals all wounds. I need a ZL1 bandaid.

I would figure the build date would be more important than the order date.

Build date actually gives you an idea of when you will get your car. Ordering just puts you in a line with countless others.

Yeah I'm sure the first orders will take sometime once the build date is known. I'm sure the first batch of cars will have longer quality checks as well. I would guess we will see them at the lots around December at the earliest. But I could be way off.

I'm a pessimist so in an effort to fix my own issues I'm wagering on November 1st. If it turns out to be December I'll practice K turns in my garage.

I hope you will have your car by Novemeber that would be sweet. It definitely could happen if orders do start first of September or so. Hopefully not to many quality control holdbacks at the factory. I'm really interested on the price and final power figures. None of it will change my mind I still want the ZL1. Gonna be a beast.

How much of a down payment do you have to put down to order, if any?

It all depends on your dealer

To order, you shouldn't have to put down more than $1k. I've been told that figure by multiple dealers. Kinda shocked me cuz I assumed it would be at least $5k.
