LOL, may I ask who you worked with? We use a KBB appraisal process that takes into account all dings, dents, scratches, as well as mileage and model and it spits out an instant cash offer. Unless you have crazy high mileage and/or body damage or mechanical issues it should have never been that low. Did your sales person show you the KBB instant cash offer?

Lowball offer on your current car. I wouldnt do it with a part time job making $17k a year. Twice that maybe.

I actually forgot his name, I have his business card in the car. But yeah when I got the car used from Kia Mall of GA the hood, roof and trunk lid has some minor it looks like hail damage, a few scratches along a couple of the doors and the mileage when I got the car was at 39,000 and now its up to 55,400, Also, the owner before me had a side swipe on the car on the driver side but was minor damage and was fixed before I received the vehicle. Putting those into the equation definitely would bring the value down, but by that much from $9-10k is kind of much in my opinion.

I might actually be trying to lean towards leasing a 1LT RS if the dealership has one available and that it would be feasible with me doing by myself and no cosigner.

I don't want to be mean, but in your circumstances you have absolutely no business buying or leasing another car. It's not remotely feasible or responsible for you to do this. You are heavily upside down in your current car, owing $13,000 on a car with a value of up to $10,000 meaning best case scenario you will need to roll $3,000 into any new purchase or lease. This will make you even more upside down in your next vehicle since I don't imagine you have enough saved to put any money down.

Even if you didn't have that issue your yearly income is not nearly enough to pay for a car like that since you still have to take into account gas and insurance. A good driver over the age of 25 with no accidents would expect to pay around $100 per month in insurance, and you can figure around $1000-1500 per 10k miles driven for gas. After that you will be lucky to have any money leftover to pay for food and a place to live. Keep your Cruze and drive it for a few more years while you finish paying it off and save your money for a down payment on a 1SS in 2018 or 2019. By then you might even be able to get a good deal on a low mile used one.

The 2016 is awesome, and I know why you want one, but honestly its just not in the cards right now. Do the responsible thing and later on when you can afford one get one.

Is $17k what you make after taxes for the year? everyone feels great regardless if they have the ss, v6 or turbo model. Even the turbo model would probably set you back $26k with taxes and discounts. But making $17k will make it tough to get an ss model. keep us posted and good luck.

At 23 yeas old, and only making $17,000/yr, my opinion is you'd be crazy to commit that much of your income to a car... any car! I can totally understand your wanting too, but seriously, even if the $17K is net rather than gross you're living on $1400/mo. Why would you want to commit 1/3 of your total income to making a car payment. Put the insurance and maint & operation costs on top of that and that car will suck you dry for years to come.

My advice.... stay a fan for a while longer until you can get yourself into a better financial position. That way you can buy a car rather than lease it where you have something of value in the end and can enjoy the car without getting that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach every 30 days when the payment is due!

Also, even if you can afford it now you have to consider other expenses 3 years from now. Maybe moving or things like that. I personally wouldnt consider a car thats more than 25-33% of your monthly paycheck

I also currently am financing on a 2014 Chevy Cruze which I still $13,031 on, but would like to trade that in to help lease on the Camaro.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Just really thinking it isn't feasible for me at the moment until I'm able to go full time at work.

You're young and trust me we all been there. In my opinion, to lease a 1SS with a few options to 39-40k, you'll need to make at least 45k+ a year with minimal dept. On a 40k car, with no money down look to pay at least $475 a month on average.

Then factor in negative equity, insurance, gas, living expenses, food, etc.. If you can find a bank that will grant you a loan even with a co-signer, I would be very surprised.

Possible if you put like 10k lol

Good luck man.. Even a turbo 4 is out of your range. But hey, use this as motivation to move on in life. Keep your head high and soon you'll be in an SS

Thank you guys for all the great feedback! Just going to wait until I get into my career next spring and save up for a little while then maybe look into a 2018 or 2019 Camaro. That way I can focus on paying off the car I have now and have some equity even if it isn't a lot.
