It's inexpensive, quick and easy and no o2 sensors or anything to worry about relocating or turning/tuning off.

My 2 cents worth. I currently have stock manifolds and exhaust with solo axle back J-pipes. I really like the low tone. Headers and Hi flow cats going on within a week. I currently plan on keeping the resonator for the simple fact that someone else mentioned is the lowering of tone. I've heard some Camaros that sound so hi and raspy when they "get on it" that you'd think it was born from the mating of a Camaro and Honda ricer! If I need more sound, I may install cutouts behind the cats and in front of resonator. Best of both worlds; quiet(er) on hiway and noise when wanted.

Well I'm curious if just going with an X pipe with my axelback will get me a better sound. I don't want it to sound too raspy, but deeper. It would be way cheaper than going headers and cats

I doubt that an X-pipe alone would give you better sound. High flo cats would be my first choice in lieu of headers.

Convertible Exhaust (L99) - What to do W/ Resinator

i did the Borla catback about two weeks ago... sounds awesome... starting to hate the AFM sound.. but i think I wouldn't even know what that sound was unless i had been here on the forums lol.. but yeah I hear it ..

The installer had some issues with the "skid plate" that is right before the cats... Had to Use spacer on it so the Pipe wouldn't hit..

Now it seems like certain bumps are making a bang clank sound in the rear end like the exhaust is hitting somewhere... do you have any of these issues ?

Well I think I'm going to try to do the x-pipe since it's relatively cheap to try. I already deleted the mufflers. I just want a little more growl.

How do you like the sound otherwise? I know there's a guy selling the same axel back pieces you have but he modified his because he didn't like the drone

I wonder how much louder mine would be if I remove the center resonator since I have no mufflers compared to the borla you have

hey let me ask you something.. That "bracket" thats right after the X pipe section... Have you had any Issues with banging on this ?

Seems that i had my mechanic adjust this two times the day he put them on... We ended up having to use washers as spacer.. and still now on certain whoops or bumps I will feel it hit...

It looks like in your pics that Section is resting on this bracket I speak of ?

I have the Borla ATAK cat back, and noticed no drone. With the Range device there is no AFM at all, so no change over sound. Best mod I've done to the car. No clearance issues or noises either.

Old crappy exhaust:
