The trunk with the partition in place measures approximately 34 inches wide, 13 inches tall and 13 inches front to rear. However, the 34 inch width tapers toward the rear of the car.

Thanks Chickenshift. I guess I need to keep searching for a slimmer cargo organizer! I have them in both my wife's and my current cars, and can't imagine doing without...

I was very hesitant about buying a convertible. Never owned one before this. Wife pushed for it. Glad she did. After testing both. I agreed to the vert but still was hesitant. After driving for two months I wouldn't go back. It's awesome. The verts have a classy feel with the top down that's unmatched. Drive both and then buy the vert. If you have any inclination towards it now you will love it more every time you drive it. Mine is a date night car and I take it to work on Fridays. TGIF tomorrow. Can't wait to go to work.

Loving our convertible. It's racking up the miles faster than the last two cars I've had even though I'm supposed to be retired. We drove from central Texas to CamaroFest in July with a few small things in the trunk and two bags and a cooler in the back seat. No problems.
I think the tires are noisy but that should improve when they get replaced with some non run flats. The ride is stiff but comfortable and you can get up to 90 or 100 (passing) and it will be stable and track straight. We have no regrets.

Note - the thing behind the seat in the picture above is the folding windscreen. Kills a lot of the buffeting from the wind. A GM accessory.

I never thought I would get one mostly because of the cost and lack of passenger and cargo space. I had my mind set that I would get a 6th gen 50th SS and I wanted to test drive the A8. The dealer that I normally go to had one as a convertible and once I test drove it with the top down I had to have it. The passenger and cargo space isn't that different. I take my wife and little girls for ice cream with top down and they love it. My brother and I go golfing and I put a blanket down and put the clubs in the back seat. Once you have a convertible you find ways to put that top down every chance you get, even if it means your passengers have cargo on their laps.

I have a 2016 2SS Vert that is my DD year round up here in Maine. I could not recommend this car enough. The only issue I've had so far with the top is the sliding plastic tonneau popping off when a buddy pressed on it while climbing out of the back seat. Besides that no problems with the top. Goes up and down easily. Road noise is no different than a coupe with the top up. And it handle 1+ ft snow falls a few times last winter. Get the vert, you won't be sorry.

Except for the daughters and ice cream thing, I could have written this one. Hell, my name is even the same (Jim / James).

I guess one other difference is that by the time I went "shopping", I knew I wanted a convertible. I had decided I was going to retire from GM. I had narrowed down to either a Corvette convertible or a Camaro SS convertible. I traded company cars for a couple weeks with a friend who had been assigned an HBM SS coupe with white rally stripes. I decided I was gonna get the same car, but in a soft-top. Went to the dealer look at the Vettes and Camaros in stock. I was about to order HBM with rally stripes and saw the 50th convertible.

When I bought it, I knew there were things I would have to compromise. My golf clubs weren't gonna fit in the trunk. They barely fit in the trunk of the coupe when I had that, so no big deal. The rear axle torque and summer tires meant it would spend an appreciable amount of time in the garage under a cover. No biggie. More than enough cars in my driveway.

If it's warm and sunny, the top is down. So here we are, in early November in Michigan. In theory, it should already be under the cover. But it is gonna ride again today. Weather is 50 and sunny.

Only con I have is sometimes, and I cannot predict when, when I put the top up, I get some squeaking from the rear driver side. Usually letting the top down and then back up again gets rid of it, but not always.

GREAT review Jim!

This is probably my 40+ car I have owned - and my FIRST convertible. I can not think of one con, but the pro's are endless.....

Q - How much warmish ( top down ) weather do you get in Oregon? I remember my 2 years in Seattle as being very damp.

Con - There is the generic concern that soft tops are not as secure as a coupe. This can countered with be careful where you park.

Con - This forum seems to me to be rather track and autocross focused. Many tracks won't let a convertible run on them.

Pro - HWY 101 along the coast with the top down

Pro - So many National forests near you with twisty back roads with the top down

Pro - that NPP growl in sport/track mode with the top down.

Pro- Happy wife ... ( you know the rest)

Conclusion - you have one trip on this world. If the extra $$ for a convertible over a coupe doesn't kill your budget go for it.
Well said. All OP needs to know.

One thing I will add is that you will get more wind noise in the Conv. Model. Specially if outside is windy. So if you plan long distance driving, say you go from CA to Vegas frequently, it will be more noisy inside. It bothers some, and some wont even notice it.

If this is a second car then this is n ot an issue.

Not much storage in the back if you want the top down, but use a soft bag for your

luggage, a little Tetris, and it's fine. Did a two week road trip this way.

Gotta watch that little plastic flap, if you lean on it with your hand or anything it's gonna

break.

There's the common issue of the trunk rattle only while the top is up, mine is no

exception.

Found a little trick on this forum on putting the windows back up when putting the top

up.

Raise both left and right front windows a few inches then stop. Switch to the back

windows, raise both of them at the same time. Keep holding the switches, and the front

windows will raise once the rears go up. I do this without thinking anymore, it's easy.

Also have a look at the convertible topic on the main page. There's a ton of info there.

I love my ride. This is the third vert I have owned (first "modern" one). I had an original 67 SS vert and a 72 Buick Centurion (Look that sucker up). This car is a dream to drive. I'm now dealing with some quirks like the funky transmission, power leakage, and a bad tire but I'm calling them quirks because I'll get through them come hell or high water.

On a road trip the car for us is quiet. Storage sucks but for the wife and I its okay. Mileage is awesome. On the highway with AFM in place i'm getting an average 34.4 MPH which is better then the wife's 4 cyl Benz.

The NPP Exhaust and Mag-Ride is essential.

The car in Sport and track mode coupled with the Automatic transmission, brings personality to the table,

The car looks great with the top up or down. Preferably down enjoying the POP's and CRACKLE's from the exhaust.

Driving in the rain, this car gets dirtier than any car or truck I've owned.
On a 22 mile commute, I average 28 mpg driving to work, and 23 mpg on the way home. On longer trips, I average 34mpg. Driving around town or stuck in traffic, expect 14 mpg or less.

The drivers seat bottom cushion is cheaply made out of a foam wire frame construction. Be careful, if you are tall - I'm 6'4" and width of the wire frame is too narrow for my hip. Using the vehicle has caused a lot of pain / problems with my hip. It's been a struggle to say the least.

The cloud I leave behind, for the car behind me, the car when I open it up on the freeway.

Punching the pedal in a tunnel, drowning the tunnel with the sound of the Camaro's engine roaring.

The compliments and looks the car gets,

Black rims, they hide the break dust

Getting Powerstop Z23 or Z26 brake pads will get rid of most of that dust. I can't tell any difference in stopping power.
