No to derail the topic but I'm curious how these aftermarket warranties apply to aftermarket parts installed on your vehicle. Anyone have any experience with dealing with anything like this?

In my limited years working at a chevy dealer I hadn't encountered this. I have a call into my friend to look into this for me but I would imagine they warranty your vehicle whether it has aftermarket parts or not.

Just brainstorming....engineer mind always something....

OK, so I heard back from my Ford Technician friend and here is the basics of his experience;
1) The GM and Ford extended warranties are the best, they use only new GM/Ford parts and everything is handled in house with fast approval.
2) The major car insurance company policies are pretty good and don't give much of a hassle in dealing with claims, but check the fine print, some might only warranty the replacement with new aftermarket or refurbished parts from your local NAPA, AutoZone, Advance Auto, Etc. (for some people this is an issue for others it isn't, to each their own)
3) The smaller companies (in general and in his experience) offering extended warranties are looking to get out of the claim as cheap as possible, they will use junkyard parts and use what ever they can to deny the claim if possible (this includes junkyard motors and transmissions).
4) Aftermarket performance parts on a vehicle with extended warranty through GM, Ford, or major insurance company could be denied if they think the aftermarket performance part caused the fault/claim. Best advice return it to stock or stock appearance before bringing it in for warranty work if possible. Don't give them a reason to deny the claim.
