Some of the sound at part throttle will still go through the perforations into the big part of the muffler. You would need a y design most likely like on the aFe exhaust to get close to a muffler bypass setup with valves open.

I have stainless works headers, high flow cats, 3" x-pipe with AFM valves into the stock npp muffler and it is way louder than stock but you can still tell there's some muffling going on at part throttle because it's not raspy around 2k rpms like my previous LS cars with similar exhaust setup but less restrictive mufflers, unless it's VVT that's keeping the raspyness away at part throttle.

If you want your valves open all the time bc you don't like the stock control, build your own wireless controller. I have a thread on it somewhere. It's less than $30 and you can fully control whether the valves are open or closed 100% of the time. It comes with a wireless remote or you can use the garage door buttons. Don't ruin a $900 exhaust by pulling the fuse.

I guess to me it just means the valve is doing its job. Maybe its because mine is manual but at 75-80mph it drones loudly, specially in the rear seat.
That's strange, I Notice no drone at all at those speeds with fuse pull. But my last car was a 06 GTO with kooks long tubes and a spintech exhaust, so im use to loud, in which of course npp dose not even compare. When I think of drone I see it as really loud where you cant talk on a phone or gives you a headache type of drone. My first car had drone like that, you could not talk on phone in that car lol. The NPP dose sound pretty good IMO with longtube headers.

I like to think of it as I paid for the quad tips and better looking rear diffuser.

ME too....add the valves also!
I knew the NPP wasn't going to be close to the sound I like but heard rumors that companies were working on NPP compatible systems that were louder.
I'm waiting on the Outlaw NPP! lol

I have it open 24/7 with the fuse pull.. to me the look of the quad tips alone is worth the $800

Oh believe me i know loud, i've had many combinations with any variety of LS. From Long tubes, cam, and no mufflers, to Procharged and Borla ATAK. I've just tried to talk to my son on long trips and he can't hear me very easily in back because of the drone.

In the end do what you want, i just love being able to switch on demand for the mornings so i don't wake anyone. I see no need to be louder when on the freeway at practically right above idle, it doesn't have an aftermarket cam, so it really doesn't sound anything special at 1500 rpm.
