A blown engine or drive train component will cost the same when you are out of warranty as it does while you are in warranty if you mod. It seems like an artificial line in the sand if you are ultimately going to mod it anyways. Enjoy the car the way you want it to be if you can afford it. If you can't afford to fix it there is no decision to be made. Just don't mod.

People that damage via tuning either don't know what they are doing or are pushing AFR or spark timing too far in the name of max numbers. Same with those screwing with transmission tables. People go changing crap based on days long gone and end up creating problems they wouldn't have otherwise had. You need to thoroughly understand the system you are changing.
