Tsloper, when are you getting your e85 done? Not sure how I feel about that intake, I've thought about taking mine off also. It does probably trap a little heat.

I have the sensor. Just waiting on the AN fittings to show up. It will probably be a few weeks before I have the E85 wrapped up.

Plus the cover isn't there to only look "pretty". It is there to keep off dust, dirty, water etc off the crucial parts of an engine
No, it's literally a "beauty" cover and serves no such purpose. GM did not leave out critical engine components exposed like that only to be protected solely by that thing.

IMO, the LT1 intake manifold looks like crap compared to most of the previous gen ones. For this model, I shall be leaving the cover on to hide that hideous manifold. On previous cars, that was the first thing I took off.

I talked to Dave and he's not sure if the same setup he uses on the vet will work on the Camaro.

I think I like the look of the intake manifold without all that plastic and sound insulation covering it. From what I can tell the cover is cosmetic with a little sound insulation under it. Otherwise I'm not sure it provides any benefit.

Thoughts? Opinions?
I wonder if the manifold could be ground down to an almost smooth surface and then painted body color? While it's off you could have it ported for a little extra HP.

People used to grind down the truck manifolds and they did look better but that was just putting lip stick on a pig. This one would actually look pretty decent ground down.

took mine off my 5th gen almost immediately. although I will say the LS is a nicer looking engine. The factory stock LT just isn't as good looking.
