This is an image of the arrow and dimple used to line up the MAF. If I hadn't read the instructions, I would have assumed the arrow showed you the direction of airflow. NOT THE CASE.

CAI cai

Thanks for all the information, and good luck at the track.

ARH would be my pick for headers as of now. 1-7/8" seem to be better for NA cars than 1-3/4". There's a vendor that's about to try 2" versus 1-7/8" to see if that may be even better. I think 1-7/8" will probably be the best, but I guess we'll see soon enough.

The arrow is supposed to line up with the aluminum dot on the filter box. I lined up the dimple on the filter, the arrow and the dot that can be seen in the picture above. For the life of me, I can't see what performance gain lining these things up would provide, but that's what it says in the install booklet.

Maybe it has something to do with the angle of the tube going into the air box

It is for correct MAF placement in the airflow, so that the readings are correct. My tuner mentioned that he was impressed with the MAF placement for this product because he didn't need to adjust anything on the tune yesterday. I would say that this is the best built CAI I've ever installed in my nearly 20 years of modding cars.

Did your tuner happen to do any dyno runs with AFR collected? Logs would be nice too but around here that is like pulling teeth.

Sorry, no. Neither of us had the time yesterday. Not going to happen until I go for the next bolt on... either the MSD or headers.

Can you give an impression on any sound difference while driving with the CAI vs without?

Certainly louder than stock, and you can hear a sharp hiss of air from time to time when the car decels using manual shifts. My son drove it today for the first time and loved it. Let's see what it does at the track tomorrow night.

It does. I don't have a Vitesse throttle controller, and it still seems like I just need to barely depress the throttle and the car wants to run.

With an 8A, the CAI sounds pretty much the same as the stock unit in my opinion and I thought stock sounded great.

This is my second CAI. I had one on my 2012 5th gen 6M and in both cases, the CAI gets high marks from me. I have had VaraRam on most of my cars and they guaranty 3-4/10s in the quarter mile. I will be anxious to see what this does. Hoping for Saturday.

I don't know that you can "hear" the throttle response, but I can say, the car seems a good bit more responsive than the stock unit. That's seat of the pants dyno, but I will have it at the Drag Strip soon to compare to stock time...I will let you know the results.
