The problem is my patience isn't holding up as well as I had hoped. That's more or less where my question in the thread title comes in. Do you guys think in a few months some of these issues will be corrected or will I have to wait until at least the 2017 models come out, if even then?
The reality is that all cars will have at least one problem or two at some point. Too many moving parts to avoid it. These are more common in first-year cars...this is what a warranty is for.

Unfortunately, what happens online is that you get a vocal minority vs. many more members who don't post about how well build their car is because they're just busy enjoying it. So what you read (especially if you only frequent this section), is skewed from reality. If you notice, there are far more people using the website who are enjoying every moment of a near-flawless Camaro experience. You have a much higher chance of getting a car that is perfectly fine, than you do of getting one with a problem.

Also, "fixes" don't just happen model year-to-model year anymore. They make running changes while the car is in production. Many of the issues that have surfaced from early builds have already been addressed (if they weren't isolated flukes). So waiting for 2017 won't really make a massive difference.

You have to ask yourself - what are the chances of getting a car with problems? And how long can you really wait?

I thought about waiting another year for the kinks to be ironed out. I'm glad I didn't. I'm very happy with my purchase. I've put on just about 600 miles now in a week of ownership and the car has been fantastic. I found a minor paint issue that I'm going to have looked at. (small bubbles or craters in the clear coat, maybe solvent pop, less than the size of a pencil eraser in the laser weld on the roof) Other than that nothing so far. I love this car!

This is exactly what I was going to say. You need to cut and paste this for every thread that pops up with this question.

Trust me, I came from a 06 GTO as well. It's outrageous the improvement this car is over the VZ. The comfort along with the handling is nothing I've ever felt before.

Forums are a terrible plac to make a decision if a car is reliable or not. They are all enthusiasts that hear and feel things most owners won't feel, they post problems much more than those that are happy and the sample size skews the severity of the problem. I like to ask service managers when I go in and watch non auto forums for probs that they report. Also, some people with probs post repetively as they think GM will see it and change (not really )...,

1500 miles/4 months on mine, not a single problem, no cosmetic defects, very satisfied.

I by no means expect it to be perfect, I just don't want it spending more time at a dealer than at my house. My GTO is the only car I bought new and I think I needed to bring it to the dealer 2 or 3 times max for warranty issues.

The paint issues and the noises are my biggest worries. Mechanical parts can be replaced but I hate messing with factory paint (Even if it is orange peely).

Glad to hear. I was washing my car the other day for the first time this year after hibernation and I realized it just doesn't do it for me the way it once did. I drove it and thought the same.

What year was yours and did you end up trading it in or selling it yourself? To me the trade is probably the better option.

I had an 06 as well.

I leased my car so trade in was basically worthless AND the trade in value was complete crap.

Listed my GTO on CL and sold it within 7 hours. Literally sold it. Cash in hand. Done. Private party values for the GTO are about 4-5k more than dealer trade ins right now.

As someone else pointed out, you're playing the lemon lottery. Feel lucky?
Believe me it's not only GM that is non responsive to car owners problems once they have your hard earned $$$. Even on a new car any and all defects that you point out must be repaired to YOUR satisfaction. Before you hand over your money.

It is safe once GM cares about customers. Cars break, it happens, but when a company refuses to take responsibility, that is when you stay away.

I had a 2010 2SS with a L99 and now a 2013 2SS with LS3. Lets just say the 13 will probably be my last GM car. To many issues, also my father has had allot of issues with his last two GM trucks so he is also done with them.

There will ALWAYS be these types of stories. Our Flex has been completely flawless to us but there have been people that have nothing but problems with it. Just like my one coworker who is getting rid of her Optima because its been completely unreliable.

My aunt had 2 newly bought Hyundais, the first was a raggedy joke, the second also a joke. Perhaps she has now learned her lesson.

My car was built in November and I've had no problems or issues.

Maybe I got lucky? I think it's just like everything else internet related. Everyone screams bloody murder when they have problems or issues. But, no one says anything when their car is as expected.

This is true. You are not lucky; most cars are fine.

It doesn't make it any better for those with problems, and certainly it doesn't marginalize the problems they are having, though.
