Its being sold over the counter so it can be self installed. What is not bring sold over the counter is the flash, so theyll do that.

Yeah i know dealerships, as an part owner. And a retired zone rep rep for honda, Porsche and BMW.

Btw, are we absolutely sure a tune is being sold? i thought the air flow sensor made adjustents by itself to the ECM.....

I was thinking the same thing before you posted it. The hot topic is "tune" and I just hope the guy didn't misspeak about it on speculation. What would stop 1 guy from buying a $400 CAI, flashing and passing the intake around to his buddies afterwards for all to get the free tune upgrade ?

You aren't used to the utter shit dealerships which is about 98% of all dealerships out there.

We have only ever heard the tune ONCE. Time is coming closer for the intake to launch now and we will see what the whole tune will look like and how it all will be incorporated.

Great question but the thing is... No one will bother with the tune without buying the intake. And if you buy the intake, you get a free tune... The tune that will come with the intake is designed for the intake, thus if you don't have the intake and you get the tune because a friend gave you the intake to get the tune but then take off the intake... It will be bad for a stock car...

I agree they may be shit, but i dont think gm will require a dealer to install. The dealer may try to pull a scam , but it will be a dealer scam. Not a GM scam. That's my point

And a point I completely missed haha. Yeah, GM won't do that but a dealership so would...

I agree completely. I wasn't saying you were wrong, but I just think they'll want the installation done by a dealership. Maybe I'll be wrong.

Same here. My last fun car was a 2013 5.0 that I bought new in 12/2012. I put 60K on it, traded it mid-last year, and it never saw a dealership. My wife got a 2013 Focus ST in 5/2013. It has 51K on it, never been to the dealership. I do all my own work on my cars that I care about.

I think it would be just like when you have a truck and buy the accessory wheels. Say you're putting 22's gm accessories wheels on a 2015 silverado with 20's. When you buy those wheels from the dealership, you also get the recalibration for the speedometer.

I will and I've had lots on many different rides. I built the first Spectre intake for the g8gt and worked with Spectre on their modular intakes for the supercharged version. So, yes they do work and for an example we had my g8gt on the dyno after the supercharger and I switched just the cone filter from smaller 8" cone to the 11" and gained almost a pound of boost. So I changed the tubing to adapt to larger cone on that prototype. More air is your friend and the motor is basically a pump and it likes more air and you gotta love the sound it makes. The computer is able to make slight adjustment to allow the change to a cold air intake without a tune unless you add other mods along with it. I do have hp tuners and I'll be interested to look at the files someday and would love to compare some of my other tunes like my g8, the LSX wagon I built a couple years ago and my recent vets I've owned, they all had CAI's.

Looks like I'll be one of the first to order from Cold Air inductions.

I have a make shift one on the car now thats meant for a 5th gen. So I'll send my money to whomever comes out with it first.

Cars will have to be retuned anyways since there aren't any files available at the moment. (from my understanding) so everyone that's tuning them are doing it the "cave man" way (again from my understanding)

But is it worth the $400? I'm not sure, but with supporting mods you kind of need to.
Here's to hoping it's worth the money!

I'm lucky...I've made friends with another car enthusiast who just so happens to be a tech at my Chevy dealer.

http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topi...-test-results/

Replacing the tube and using stock air box and paper filter=most hp on a 5.3 truck.

Not sure how it applies to the Camaro but I don't see why the stock box on a truck would be any better than a Camaro.

Just food for thought.

Be cool if they offered a MIT only for the Camaro...

Id like to see some independent tests of this. Guessing it wont happen...loss of $ not selling an entire kit...

400 bucks is a fantastic price for an intake especially when you think about the gains. You gain as much as a headers upgrade which costs 1200 bucks at least and WITHOUT installed! Intake install = free even if you blindfold yourself to install it because it is THAT easy, compared to headers... Buck per power and efficiency increase is fantastic. Intake could've easily been 500+. Another thing to keep in mind is to see some real world applications and dyno results from customers. We have seen that X Y Z part gave 5 times the power vs a customer testing it. But at least with C.A.I we know that it will be damn efficient which is why we grab an intake haha.

Now that intakes will be coming out... I really need to find me a stock set of tri-y headers so I can get em ported and coated. Intake and ported & coated headers, borla xpipe are what is left for my max efficiency under factory warranty build. Got ported TB and ported IM already. In other worlds, my base build for procharging in the future will be done
