So I finally got the correct mirror tap. Noticed one issue though that I finally figured out. To test the mirror tap car has to be running you can't check your work with just the accessory power on. This is nice it just threw me for a loop and a little aggravation.

The mirror on the 2016 camaro is the same as the c7 vet so I don't know what the 2014 Camaro has sorry. blendmount.com may be able to help you out more. also that mirror tap is for the 2016 because of where you hard wire it

A few tricks
A technique to remove the dome light console. The console has three main clips that hold it in place, two on the side and one in the back. Back is referenced to back of car. Take two pieces of hard plastic. I used some cake icing kitchen tools. These plastic pieces will protect finishes. Wedge them in one of the sides of the console. About one inch back from the back of the console. Then slide a screwdriver in between the two pieces of hard plastic. Hold the two plastic wedges in place because you do not want them to slip in the next step or you may leave some scratches. Twist the screwdriver. This twist action will pop the side out. Do the other side use same procedure. It will pop out. Now the two side connectors are loose.
Next move to the back of the console. For reference again, back is the back of car. Slip the wedges in the center of the console, slide the screwdriver between the two pieces of plastic and twist screwdriver. Pop. Now the console is free. There are two hinges on the front. Just drops down. No need to remove all of the electrical connectors. Just two. Remove the driver side dome light connector. Then remove the front clip in the center. Removal of one dome light connector will allow the dome light console to swing out of way to make necessary connections. As stated and shown. Put a cloth on the rear view mirror to protect finishes. |

I just finished my install. It is going to take some getting use to. It is an easy install though. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the how to...:-)
I also have the harness with the mute button. If I don't like reaching up to the unit, I might have my local stereo shop cut the console and install it right in front of the accessory outlet. He is very talented. He could make it look factory. It would be an easy push to quiet the thing down I live on the border of 3 towns/cities. In two of them, the cops have their radars on all of the time. The detector is almost always screaming |

I'm assuming it doesn't but just wanted to confirm, does hardwiring a radar detector void your warranty? Thanks guys!

Which warranty? It may depend how you tap into the wires.

Maybe a dumb question, but given that the airbag light is only illuminated when you have no passenger, does the purple/wh still have power if someone is seated in the passenger seat?

I want to note that my installer initially tried the switched power for the rear view mirror. For some crazy-ass reason it only worked when I turned accessories on first then cranked the starter. My installer checked the voltage and it seems that if you just step in the car and start it, the voltage only shows 10v but if you start the accessories first then start the actual motor it shows 12v. He switched to the airbag one as the OP instructed and it works fine now.
