All C7s have it. All 6th gen Camaros have AFM hardware, but it is disabled on the manual cars.

That's better gas mileage than I'm getting 350 mi in on my break in. Granted I sit in traffic a lot! I am seeing about the same mpg with the v6 as my GTI. Hoping it improves a little.

Yea, and breaking the differential on your manual transmission car at the starting line is like finding out your girlfriend is now pregnant.

To each his own I always say but far more "converts" every model year to the autos ..read the mags...even Ferrari has pushed them aside...that said your $$$..your smile
![]() AFM gates bring back balance to the motor when in V4 mode, as I understand it. I will be dropping in some sound pad as I did with the C7..it makes a difference.... |

..Im a manual trans car guy, but I think I would opt for the A8, since it gets a higher mph on the 1/4 and faster times. Man those trans kick arse!! Still love to shift my gears though :/

WE FOUND THE SOURCE!
The obnoxious noise wasn't AFM or even NPP related. Apparently, even the 1SS without the Bose system has "Active Noise Cancellation" (ANC) where they pump opposing sound waves through the speakers to cancel out engine/exhaust noise. There is a defect in the ANC Module where at that one specific point the module gets confused and sends out a massive low frequency BOOM through the speakers to counter an exhaust drone that doesn't actually exist. So a noise canceling frequency to cancel noise that isn't there, just turns into.... noise. There is a service bulletin on it. They are reflashing the Active Noise Cancellation modules currently, and will have service parts availalble at some point in the near future. I'm not entirely sure if they intend to reflash my module or replace it with a newer one, (No, it's not part of the ECU, it's one of the many crazy electronic modules that plugs into the sound system that the aftermarket radio guys are going to have nightmares dealing with). Anyway, the short-term fix was to unplug the module from the amplifier. So for now I do not have "noise cancelling". I'm not entirely sure I noticed a difference, but I've only driven 5 or 6 miles since they unplugged it. (I did notice the extra 4 psi of air they put in my snow tires... turned my luxury car back into a kidney pounding sports car). |
