With the + or - 1% variation allowed by SAE it could be making 459-460hp. With the NPP (even though rating is same on Camaro) could be as high as 465hp.

The way the run and the numbers they put down 460-465 hp sounds about right.

But yes...I'd like to know what he's talking about...455 is the official number.

@Ted:

Do you see the C7 TQ curve to be similar to this curve? Or does the Camero have a better low end TQ than Corvette?

When I read it a couple moths ago, the Camaro lt1 was certified at a tad over 458hp.

My current/old econobox wouldn't even show up on this graph. It had about 100 HP at the wheels.. 25 years ago. So, less now probably. I thought that was kind of funny.

If it was rated at 458, it doesn't mean that every one makes 458. Most would fall in the 453-463 I would think.

Also never heard 458, but I wouldn't be surprised if they rounded it one way or another for a better sounding number.

Are these numbers SAE corrected?

That is actually not correct. GM has the SAE testing done with a third party, but GM chooses the rating. We use various SAE power certifications at my job and I am very familiar how they work. GM can have a engine SAE certified, and release a slightly different number, and still be within SAE tolerances. It's common to rate slightly under to give a little buffer. A good example of this was the last gen Viper. It was rated at 510 hp, but was certified at 512. They can also choose to go the other way. Like that Viper could have been rated at 517 and still fell within SAE tolerances. Depending on the Jxxx rating, variances can range from 1-2.5%. But, under rating isn't usually frowned upon as long as it's reasonable, as advertising less and getting more isn't a bad thing. But if you want to keep your SAE certification, you can't over rate more then the 1-2.5% that the Jxxx certification allows.

I noticed in the other thread they did they're pulls in 5th gear which is not 1:1.

All dyno pulls with the new 8 speed should be done in 6th which is 1:1 gear ratio.

Previous 6 speed auto 4th gear was 1.15 for comparison which will show more drivetrain loss.

This Auto shifts extremely well, quick and smooth, could be a tad firmer.

Auto tuning software is not available yet for this trans, suppose to be added shortly.

This is an entirely different car than the 5th gen, I don't see any carry over.

We will continue to test and report our findings.

Stay Tuned with Jannetty Racing.

Ted.

Fair enough but my point was SAE wouldn't rate the car at 750 hp and GM rate it at 455. The SS was around 458 and GM says 455. Three hp isn't a major difference and within tolerance so it may be the actual rating.
