Hell I think they should leave the LS7 alone. It'd be a great day to have the Z/28 go out and work over a GT350R with "only" 505hp.
Man that would send some special people over on the other side into a rage.

I thought the LS7 was dead? They couldn't get it to pass emissions? I'd bet money they won't bring back the Z28 with the LS7. I still saying the next hi po model will be the Z28 with the LT4

An LS7 in a 6th gen would be incredible.

No WAY would I NOT buy that car.

my understanding that a "higher HP" LS motor NA could not pass emissions, as opposed to an LS7 which does pass..... I would be first in line for an LS7 427 C6 Z/28!!!!

When they said they couldn't meet emissions weren't they talking about an NA engine that made 650 horsepower in the Z06? Maybe wishful thinking but I can see Chevy putting a detuned version that does meet the emissions criteria into the Z28 and possibly in the vette refresh (if there is one).

It was a Typo. Below, it shows the V8 engines for 2016, and the LS7 is not there.

It'd be interesting to see if they could do a 7.0L motor with the LT block. There aren't a ton of differences between the LS blocks and the LT other than the changes necessary to use direct injection. Based off what they learned with the LS7 it'd probably land somewhere in the ~525-550 hp range with VVT and DI.

It's listed as a 16', pretty obvious there won't be any Z variant for 2016. It's a typo.

Would make sense given that there is currently no high performance NA version of the LT1 in the Vette world...

Unless someone has heard any rumblings?

In the meantime, I will be enjoying my 4th Gen Camaro SS with built LS3, well when spring gets here...

Question

The current version could not pass, or an improved version of the LS7? Or did the emissions just get tougher in 2016?

I really hope they don't put the LT4 in the next Z/28. It's going to be hard to call it a real comparison when it goes head to head with the 350R.
