Some very good points here.
I know when I first tracked my ZL1 I noticed a big different in weight compared to the LFX V6 I used to track. I would also agree that a base ZL1 vs a stock 1LE on the track is closer than most people realize. It's not until you start modding both cars that you see the major differences. The ZL1 can just take high HP mods and keep on ticking without any major issue. The 1LE is a great car but you can only bolt so much on before things start to break. I also agree that if there is a new ZL1 or Z/28 that it will be around 70-75k to pick one up. The price bump from the old 2SS to the 6th Gen 2SS proves that.

Big brakes, rims, tires, better aero, stronger rearends, halfshafts, blower and better transmission. Plenty of room and parts to add. Just bring money.

Your right there are 3 parts, that are taken from the ZL1 only.
Rear Toe Link (ZL1, 1LE) (2) - 22845487 Rear Sway Bar (ZL1, 1LE) - 22786260 Wheel Hubs (ZL1, 1LE) (4) - 25954415 And one of the 2 sets of rims that came on the ZL1, but the diff is not the same, the axles are not, the brakes are not, clutch is not, the trans is not, Do they share most of the same sheet metal, yes they do,so does this mean all SS have ZL1 parts on them? Some Zl1 came with leather steering wheel's, shifter is the same as any of the SS only the microfiber is new, don't think the 1LE came with the high flow pump, the Z/28 did but not the 1LE.

WOW. I mean if you are going to argue be civilized and spell check gentleman. LOL It is going to be ok in reality none of this will matter when the zl1 or 1le comes out. It could be completely different. I do want to thank both of you for the information given. It has been a good read so far!

Just curious if any of you think any existing corvette parts beyond the LT4 might make it into the ZL1? Or if not the same part exactly, just the technology? Or maybe I should be looking at the new CTS-V for clues?
Thanks, I'll take my answer off the air. |

I don't think the LT4 will be used at all. More likely we'll get a new motor that produces 600/600 and can be mass produced as a benchmark for future vehicles. I wouldn't be surprised if it has turbines instead of screws, LF inspired head design and weigh less than the LT4. Plus not as expensive as the LT4.
And both of the recent cars still running laps are two trims of the same model. GM learned their lesson on the Z28. People want a complete interior and don't want to spend 20k over the next highest model to get a race car. Instead, they will take the approach which seems to be looking good for Chevy (Z06/Z07) and Ford (GT350/GT350R). Put the bells in A and spend another 6-8k to get the whistles as well. It will fit all the desires for 1LE/ZL1/Z28 buyers. |

GM never expected the Z/28 to be a volume seller. They knew they were going after a niche market.

I would opt for and spend the money for a Copo if they would put a VIN on it to be street legal. However, i do plan to get a ZL1 50th ed if offered and keep my current as a DD.
