I was disappointed but after seeing the ratios it just helps with overdrive mpg on highway. I was hoping the M7 would get special gearing for a future 1LE option that utilized 6 gears better for the track and kept 7th for OD. Oh well, not the end of the world the best feature is the rev matching feature.

Yep. The engineer I talked to at the unveal said it wont fit.
Ive got buddys with stingrays that say they dont even use 7th.
I love both 6060 cars Ive owned. Powershifts effortlessly.

Seems unlikely the General would use a transmission in Corvettes only. That's a pretty low volume overall for something they developed at considerable expense. I almost have to believe we'll see that 7 speed somewhere else, eventually.

Only measurements I could find is the six speed for the Camaro is 81mm Center Point Distance and the seven speed for the Corvette is 85mm Center Point Distance.

I have no real idea what Center Point Distance refers to.

It's the distance from the center point.

Sorry I couldn't even find anything on Google. I suspect it is the radius or diameter from center

Well, until Number 3 weighs in, we do know one is bigger than the other in some way.

I knew it was only an extra OD. Especially with no AFM on the manual, the M7 would have been nice to have.

Did you just want 3 overdrive gears? Did you think it was a stronger trans? Does it shift better? Did you want it for better mpg?

I bet most of you thought that the 7 speed had more forward gears and better ratios for performance. I'm here to tell you that the 7 speed has 4 forward gears just like the 6 speed. The 7 speed just has a extra overdrive.

Look at the 7 speed ratios

1st-2.97
2nd-2.07
3rd-1.43
4th-1.00
5th-.71
6th-.57
7th-.48

Now look at the 6 speed ratios

1st-3.01
2nd-2.07
3rd-1.43
4th-1.00
5th-.84
6th-.57

As you can see the gearing is almost identical other than the fact that the 6th speed has a little stronger 1st gear and no 7th gear. Torque capacity of the 7speed is only 20ftlbs better. Considering the TR-6060 has gone in such cars as the ZL1 and GT-500 I think it will be plenty strong for a 6th gen SS. As far as shifting, well I wouldn't know. I guess you would have to drive a C7 and then a ATS-V back to back. The only real thing I see it helping is mpg and that's a maybe.
Those aren't the gear ratios that the 6th gen SS will get. From http://www.*********media.com/produc...aro-specs.html, 1st - 2.66, 2nd - 1.78, 3rd - 1.30, 4th - 1.00, 5th - 0.74, 6th - 0.50

Truth be told, I can't drive stick, so I'm happy that the Camaro is getting an eight-speed auto. I think the 8AT worked wonders in the 2015 Challenger, so seeing it in a car that's possibly 400-500 pounds lighter should do wonders with the acceleration. And isn't acceleration why people love muscle cars- or sports cars in general- in the first place?

I'm guessing the reason why they didn't put the 7MT in is because of packaging issues, anyone know the reason why?
