Sat in a GM Camaro rep car trying to absorb as much as I could, while dealers kept sweet talking me on paying $10k over MSRP on the one on the lot, as well as a pre-order car? Sheeesh..
they would luv to charge $$ to sit in car let alone test drive one..

Really just depends on the dealer. You do seem to get hounded more in domestic ones, lot more calls after you visit the lot, more pressure to buy today.

Car dealers are indendant of the manufactures so the experience of both Ford and Chevy dealers being jerks is just that a dealer experience, it just as easily could have been the foreign dealer sales staff that had treated you like crap. Carsales personel are for the most part cut from the same cloth, they would screw their own mothers for a deal from my experience working and dealing with them. Check around there are a few good ones out there, just takes time to discover them and then stick with them like glue.

The ones around here are friendly, but the 6k markup they put on the 1SS pretty much negated everything good I had to say about them. It's been sitting there for a month now.

South Florida is full of scummy dealers.
I went to Maroone Pembroke Pines, and the weasels had already sold the "dealer" unit, and would not even let me sit in it - because it was a sold unit. They sold it, and locked it up, before the debut day. They also charge $900 in dealer weasel fees over MSRP. I worked for Maroone years ago, and learned you're either a sceasy weasel, or you quit and go on to a legitimate career. Ed Morse Weaselgrass is horrible too. A year ago I went to check out the Pontiac G8, and they gave me the "how dare you ask for a test drive" attitude. Hey, you know what you can do with your freakin G8 buddy? I'm gonna end up ordering a Camaro from an out of area legitimate dealer. ,
