I would be upset but not to much, if it was by best friend. My best friend is auto my auto repair guy on things I can't fix. So I would prolly take care of it

a good friend would say "I will pay for that" the moment it happens. no awkwardness involved. a good friend would feel terrible and make sure you are comfortable with what just happened and how it will be fixed..

Good friend does NOT give you a free pass at personal damage. Like its been said already....if he was that good a friend, he would offer to pay at least 1/2 the damages. Bring the damage that he caused to his attention(be confrontational...but not an a-hole), then ask him how to take care of this......his answer will show you what kind of friend he really is.

to the OP..... just because your friend takes care of his stuff, does necessarily make him accountable for his actions, does it

...is the friendship worth $600?

answer the question....and move on

" I saw him hit it, but had window up and didn't hear the hit (good thing)"......i don't understand your statement...why is is a good thing that he did not hear the hit?

friends and money don't mix too well. 600 ain't cheap but lets be honest, the guy can probably get that kinda money together if you guys have your own cars
In most states, damage that takes place on private property is a civil matter and the cops can't do much more than write a report.

If he is a true friend he takes care of it and all is OK. If not, then he's not a friend and you have to let it go, sue in small claims or through your insurance company, short of the ass kicking option, in which case you probably still pay yourself.

Either way it sucks.

I think the OP meant at he couldn't hear it, because he was inside when it happened.

If he was any friend at all, he would have offered to pay for it.

Have you told him about the damage you found after he left?

If he doesn't offer to pay for it suck it up, pay for it, do his wife/girlfriend, and then write him off.

You said he takes care of his cars, yet you still had reservations. Your Camaro wasn't HIS car and your reservations were correct.

Next time listen to your gut!!!

The right thing for him to do would be to offer to pay for it before you even have a chance to ask him.

THat's what I would do for a friend, and that's what I'm sure any of my real friends would do as well.
