Yeah, Although being a GM guy I had liked certain Toyotas until 2005 when Toyota finally killed off the Celica and MR Spyder.

Since then their designs have been conservative and unmoving. They've become way too mainstream....

Now Nissan, and Mazda have always impressed me. Pretty much every vehicle in Mazdas lineup has a little bit of soul to them. And well the only car from Nissan that I'd ever buy would be a Z, but the Altima, and Maxima have always been pretty fun cars for being mid-size sedans...

This might be crazy-talk here, but if GM should fail, the Corvette should die, just as the Camaro should. They're not just cars to a lot of people, they're icons, just as GM is, and I'd much rather see them die with the company that gave birth to them, and that's managed to make sure they live up to the standards of the many enthusiasts, then to see Toyota or any other company for that matter micro-manage them from an office, and kill the spirit behind them. If GM goes, and I don't think it will, let them die with dignity. I don't want to see Corvettes with "VTEC V8s".

Yep...if GM dies, I would rather the vette go down in history with it. I'm sorry to those that don't agree.

I would NEVER want to see that Toyota badge on a vette. NO SIR.

Both of those cars were anemic underperformers in their final iterations. Not really stars to begin with.

Very true. The Celica was a crap shoot in its last generation, although the Celica was never a stellar performer like its more expensive sibling the Supra was.

The MR2 Turbo was a pretty decent performing car for its price. Very affordable (well kinda not at its time) and a pretty well performing track vehicle for what it was. The old MR2 Turbos are still competing very well in autocross events to this day.

But yeah when the MR Spyder came out it disappointed me because I had always preferred the hard/t-top that the MR2 had. While the MR Spyder was slow to begin with it was built with tuning intended, which was something I always thought was pretty cool of Toyota to do. All it needed was a turbo kit and with how light it weighed that 1.8L i-VVT converted to F.I. was capable of being a 10 second car...

In the event of a Toyota buyout, the noble Corvette would, like a samuri, take its own life to preserve its honor.

Terrible motor. We have one in the shop burning a quart of oil every 100-150 miles. It's in a Toyota...I mean Pontiac Vibe. Awful.

That's a surprise, from everyone that I've talked to has praised the 1.8L i-VVT.
Heck even Lotus still sources this engine from Toyota and uses it in the Elise/Exige...

Lemme restate what I said earlier because I was wrong. As a Chevy the Corvette will outlive the Planet Earth .
