Good job Chevy.
Yup, imagine if the SS didn't have run flats...

Someone in my town (small town btw, 25,000) got a GT350. Here's hoping he happens to be at the same track days with me We have a pretty nice track here.

There are an incredible amount of variables to this though (track conditions, DRIVER, track) so there is a plus/minus. I think the biggest is the driver, as most folks aren't going to be able to flog these cars like a pros.

I think the Camaro will hold it's own on the track and will be nipping close to the base or tech pack. Braking, engine and tires is where I think the GT350 should have the advantage at the track. It's cold here so no track racing till the Spring (at least in my area).

Don't be goaded into magazine racing right now. I think as more of both cars see the track, we will get a better understanding of each cars strengths and weakness.
I can't see both the base gt350 and the TP doing the same amount of time. The base doesn't have all the coolers that the TP has.

One thing is that you can usually make a few changes to solve this. Bigger radiator, more coolers, etc. I mean look at the GT350R-C race car, it is nearly identical to the street car, with just a few minor changes, and it can run full bore for the duration of a race with a pro driver without breaking a sweat.
Really, 20 minutes full blast at an amateur track day event seems short to you? If you are doing more than that before going to the pits, then you should get the track package with all the coolers. The folks who the get the tech pack (not track pack) will most likely be DD's, as there is an added layer of livability (if that's a word).

It's clear Ford gave the buyer options here. For folks who will never/rarely/occasionally (1-2 times/year) track their car, base or base with tech pack is the car for them. For those who do track their car more or for longer duration, the 350 Track Package or 350R is the car for them, as it includes trans and diff coolers.

That's a quick 1ss with the 6spd. Faster than what gm is reporting.

So? This thread is comparing the manual SS, to the manual GT350 (no auto available, kudos to Ford).

Indeed, with a slipping clutch running down the track. Also a 150 shot.

I like how when the new Camaro ran that 10.60 people said it was 'just' a 150 shot. In mind, thats a pretty substantial pill to be juicing regardless of what car it is. I would presume its only a matter of time until something gives. I haven't been keeping up on the LT1's response/ability to handle power mods, though.

There are many boosted C7's running around with no issues. The bottom end of the LT1 is pretty stout.

So almost a half a second slower then a SS with the same mods.
But, with that aside, not sure why they are trying to turn a road course car into a drag strip car...kinda dumb.

Good to hear, thats what I figured.

Slipping clutch and a manual transmission vs. the auto

Totally agree. I think they said that car will be doing road course duty also, though.

i doubt ford will pony up to that comparo. ford camp bitched and moaned over the ZL1 vs the Boss/Boss-LS so chevy answered and said here.....a 1LE ford absolutely positively would NOT give anyone a BOSS to do a comparo vs the 1LE . i think one magazine R&T "maybe it was Automobile" got the chance but, at every road course the 1LE and Boss were tested on the 1LE has proven quicker. "the 1LE is a fresh set of tires away from a sub 3 min lap here at VIR" per C&D lightning Lap. so that being said MArk Ruess was quoted saying that he was confident that the 1SS or 2SS camaro would be able to beat a GT350. THAT WAS BEFORE TESTING WAS RELEASED! so Ford will more than likey continue to protect the 50-80grand dearborn brony from testing against a 2016 1SS-2SS or possible 1LE
