Thats terrible, I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy issued a recall on this.

It was a preliminary bulletin on the ACDelcoTDS site. I don't know what it will ultimately mean in terms of action by GM. It's not clear as to what the root issue is on that particular oil pan. I'm speculating that for whatever reason the 2 pickup bolts are not retaining the tube correctly. Lack of loctite? Bad initial torque? Is this an inevitable result for that pan? Hopefully they come out with further details as to the likely hood of a problem. I do think a recall should happen before people start dropping engines. It clearly can be prevented.
All I know is that if my motor were stock and the low oil pressure light came on I wouldn't be sad if the engine seized. I had a 95 LT1 engine rebuilt buy the dealer and it was never right after the fact. Those guys just don't take a methodical approach to disassembly and reassembling. I remember seeing my engine spread all over the damn place with no organization whatsoever. |

I was going to trade in my 2011 in late feb. or march. After reading all the issues I think I will put on hold to see wat up and how GM fixes the issues with quality control.

There are a few issues for sure, a lot of us have little things that aren't perfect and many have no issues at all. I wouldn't make my trading decision on the ones that have had quality control issues or really big problems. That can happen to any manufacturer. I love mine and its said that others are having serious defects or getting cars replaced. Obviously this oil pump issue will get resolved and hopefully the customer will be satisfied with GM's response and repair.

GM has created the perfect storm. A new manufacturing plant, a new model year and intense supply chain pressure. You cannot possibly believe that you're going to get a consistent quality product.

Do you think anyone with a TPW date after a certain point this year won't have this issue? It seems like a defective batch of parts that they've already corrected since the new part won't have raised numbering.

A couple of us from the 01/25 club are currently in qc hold. Might be because of this issue.
