I bought a '77 new before anyone heard of generations. Back then we called the 67-69's the early ones. The 70-73,'74-'77 and '78-'81 were looked at as different "models" of camaros.

And when they DO redesign it, we'll see 1000 spy shots and test mules for 2 years before they ever get the production cars going... thus far I have not seen anything but some unofficial "artist rendering" internet ideas of what a 6th gen Camaro "might" look like. I believe that if there was going to be an "all-new" Camaro in a year or 2 from now, we'd be seeing some evidence of it right now.

Back in those days we had fun a few times knowing when an officer was coming at you at night because we could recognize the headlights and markers lights. They didn't have moving radar so we could accelerate and blast by them going the opposite direction know they weren't going to turn around. Too fast to be recognized by them and they knew by the time they turned around and got up to speed you'd be long gone. Back in those days there were only a few officers on duty in the whole county at night, unlike the saturation there is today. Anyway, it's hard to tell most cars from others these days, I hope the Camaro stays uniquely identifyable as it is and always has been.

The big difference with cosmetic and new is the frame, hasn't Chevy already dedicated towards a new frame?

But nothing official from GM on when it will be released. Any design changes done on the current frame will still be a 5th Gen.

Development of the 6th Gen started years ago with the new Alpha (Caddy ATS) platform. The ATS-V will be released late next year. The new CTS will be released soon. Call it concurrent development of the 6th Gen.
The ZETA based Camaro was in Chevy showrooms less than three years after Holden released the Commodore even though the company was facing severe challenges. The ATS was released a few months ago. Using the same three year cycle that puts a 6th Gen in Chevy showrooms in 2016. GM's a much stronger and more nimble company than it was in 2008. I think you are looking at a shorter cycle with the release of the 6th Gen |

Sales will continue to drop if it takes that long. 6 years with little change is a bit much. I suspect 2015 will be the year just as Mustangs new body will be 2015.

Just like the '13 ZL1 was going to get 650hp since the GT500 has 650... just sayin'...

6th Gen for 2016 MY with a release in 2015. Rumors say mid 2015. But that target has some built in wiggle room.
