LT Engine
The engine in question is one of the best in production. I don't think Motor Trend's recent article about the engine is any big thing. Nothing human-made is going to be perfect in all circumstances all the time. "Stuff Happens".

Except it's happened multiple times with the Z06. Honestly I think the packaging is the problem. Mentioned this over on the Mustang site. There is literally trouble getting the air into the vehicle because of its aerodynamics. The CTS-V has not had any issues at all. It has much better area for air to go in and it's aerodynamics actually allow for air to go into the engine bay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is the kind of thing that happens during R&D, not in the hands of a customer. Iron this crap out BEFORE the first one hits the showroom floor. Inexcusable. |

Nice that the Corvettes got to be the guinea pigs for the new engines.
By the time the Camaro hits the bugs should be worked out. |

Of note, both of C&D's C7s were Z51, which is dry sump. The 6th gen LT1 is wet sump. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but I haven't heard any wet sump motors blowing yet.
I agree LT4 issues appear to be packaging mainly. Won't know until more CTS-Vs and LT4 Camaro get out there.

Maybe I'm missing something, but aren't there two different issues?
There were engines that were blowing up where the problem was the metal flakes. The other issue is with the engine not producing power. I don't think GM has done anything about that. That's what we are seeing in these media tests. |

If it's really a concern, I'll up the warranty to $100k miles, then dump the car before the warranty runs out if I start having issues. |

(copied from corvette forum): Keeping count, this is actually the 4th time that Motor Trend has had a negative report on the Z06. 1. Randy Pobst overheated the Z06 on Road Atlanta. 2. The Nissan GT-R beat the Z06 at Willow Springs. Got a bad write-up about handling. Found to be bad alignment, another car was sent later and re-tested, which did better. 3. Carlos Lagos overheated the Z06 doing timed figure-8 laps. 4. This DNF Laguna Seca article. I think MT at this point thinks it's a big thing that Z06s keep failing. |

Well this is seems to be more of a Z06 issue rather than LT4 since we're not seeing these problems with the CTS-V. The Camaro with the LT4 should hopefully be fine.

Didn't MT state the most recent "limping around the track" caused by bad fuel? Something about the previous people who used it filled up with Chevron fuel 89 octane.
