Its by RPM. I've seen the DFCO tables by RPM where its set.
That was what the lead development engineer at GM told me. What does he know?

2nd Gear definitely seems to be the most crackly gear for it.

Your exhaust sounding like a fresh bowl of rice crispy's on decel is based on DFCO and timing.

DFCO enables and disables by RPM, ECT, Speed, Torque, and Catalyst temp.

Mark Dickens told me that at Camarofest back in the teens. I am not interested in starting an internet flame war or anything. Believe me or don't. No offense, but you are being kind of a dick.

Now that I think about it, it was 2013 Camarofest so we were probably talking about 5th gens - I had a 2012 M6 at the time. So, sorry to mislead. Not trying to spread rumors here, but that is what he told me.

If I see any of those guys this weekend, I am going to ask. You probably think that sounds crazy and are going to call bs, but it is the Woodward Dream Cruise, so you never know!

Chutzpah - I installed Stainless Works 3" stainless cat back with their mufflers with the NPP valves. The tone is definitely deeper with less crackle/pops. If I remember correctly the price was right around $2k.

Fair enough, I was being a dick. But frankly seeing your internet facts that I completely know to be false, kind of pisses me off. People read this and will read this for years thinking that what you said was true since you "heard it from a GM engineer"... Well its not. Not only have I seen, but I have manipulated those tables that change the DFCO effecting the pops and bangs. When you meet the different criteria and are in the RPM window where its setup, you will hear it as you decel.

There is no timing here. So my apologies if I was a dick, but man check your facts.

I really dislike the crackling / popping on deacceleration in my 22 1LE 6 speed.

I wish I could tune it out without voiding the warranty.

This whole crack/pop tuning reminds me of the early ricer days with hondas and their obnoxious exhausts - they do nothing for performance, and everything for attention which I hate.

I’m with you. I have it tuned out and now I just have the sweet “normal” sound as the engine decels off throttle.

I see a lot of this with the A10 vs the M6, unless you drop to manual mode and run it that way.
