Oh yes,, They'll bend you over and pork you silly at close to 15K under sticker.
This is why you see many dealers today opening up a second car lot under a similar or different name. Specifically for their used trade vehicles.
They offer you 15K under sticker for your low mileage pristine ride. You walk them out to their lot. Why are you asking several thousand over what you're offering me for this POS? You need to make 7K on one sale? The same ride with twice the mileage, looking beat to S.

This is the best way to negotiate with a trade-in. Always know the magic number! This is how dealers negotiate trades. See...you really don't care if they take off more on the new one or give you more for your trade, just as long as the difference is the number you want. This saves so much time on trying to get a price on your trade or getting them to come down on theirs. Don't even tell them what you want out of your car, let them do their job and get you the difference you want. Good Luck!
This!

Dealers exist to do 1 thing: make as much money as possible on each transaction. The other side of that coin is they want to TAKE as much money from you as possible too (and give you the bare minimum). Always remember that.

When I bought my 1LE the dealer initially offered me $21k for my C6 Vette. I told them no and walked b/c they had an IDENTICAL Vette on the lot with 10k more miles for $30k selling price.

5 days later they added $5k to the trade-in.

I don't think that is realistic. The 2019 refresh is coming very soon, dealers are trying to off load the remaining 2018's.

Your's is a 1SS, since 2SS is only 2018's.

I am working on a deal now for a 2SS 1LE for low to mid 40's. Car has been sitting for 3 moths on the lot.

You figure cars depreciation at least $10K as soon as you drive them off the lot.

You factor all that in and I do not think you will be anywhere near $37K for a 1SS if you tried to sell it or trade it in.

Are the three moths going to go in on the car together??

100% agree, and when you go in knowing this price, they know that you are serious and know what you are doing.

I tell them all the time that I don't care if they charge me $100k for that SS 1LE, so long as they give me $90k for my trade (that's worth 10k less than the 1LE).,

Just focus on the diff..

One thing I've always done because I'm cheap and I'm in the business is I've never bought a model of car with tons of options because they don't have much of a return. You would definitely do better selling privately and having the title makes a huge difference to a prospective buyer. I got $28,500 for my 2015 Mustang GT performance pack with 28k miles on it a little over a year ago with a serious discount on my 17 1SS. We have a dealer locally who's discounting 1LE's $7500 (probably a little more in person) and $8000 off a 1SS.

I paid $37k and some change for mine new. Why would a dealer offer $35k for a used one?

Sir Walter? I'd caution anyone trying to do business with them. Not only rude, but add on fees and mandatory accesories make any deal seem moot
