We just got home a hour ago, total distance traveled was 285 miles, average mpg was 40.5. That was mostly mountain driving with about 85 miles of interstate at 65 to 70mph.

5 month review of the Spark
5 months ago I brought home the Spark for my wife. Well things change and right now we have been using it for our primary vehicle, mainly because of the gas mileage. It has surpassed my expectations in both performance and comfort. My only complaint about it is I wish it was quieter inside. I know using more sound deadening would increase weight and hurt the fuel mileage along with performance so I accept it for that tradeoff.
We have taken many road trips in the car. Usually day trips ranging from 200 to 300 miles. Of course these trips usually have mostly mountianous drives with about 1/3 to 1/2 interstate. It has no problem getting up to highway speeds and on the interstate with the cruise on it will hold 70mph all day with no problem. The fastest I have driven it is 85mph while passing a truck on a two lane road. Our trip mileage is always over 40mpg and a couple times it has been as high as 45mpg. In 5 months we have driven the car 9297 miles with an overall mpg of 37. There have been two recalls on the car, one on the PVC valve which is complete and a new one on a hood latch which is awaiting parts. Other than those the car has been completely trouble free. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this car a solid 10. It does exactly what it is designed to do and believe it or not draws almost as many positive comments and questions as the Camaro.

Korea does build some good little cars, I would be leery of their larger offerings.

Awesome, my wife and I have a year together and share a car. But, I graduate from school in December.
Next year I will buy her what she wants too. |
