I bet the theft rate on SS 1LEs will go up now that the "theft deterrent" manual trans is no longer the only option.

Was really hoping for an Elkhart Lake Blue equivalent to make it to the 2021s, but a 10 speed option for the SS 1LE sounds like a great addition!
I wonder if it will be the 10L80 from the SS or 10L90 from the ZL1? |

that literally makes no sense. there's probably more older people that have experience with manuals than younger people

I get it, that a 6sp is more engaging as far as the driving experience goes.Every fun on the Bay Area back roads. But its nice to have the choice between the two transmissions.Plus with the A10 you most likely will get line lock and adjustable launch control.Dont get me wrong I do love my 6sp but i wish i had the choice of the A10.

Yeah, and when I actually see old people driving anything but automatics...that will mean something. They may sure have more experience with it, but I'd imagine the demographics are pretty similar of 70+ and numbers of manuals as compared to "millennials". It's when someone starts claiming that their **** don't stink that it starts to smell bad around here...

Drag racing is not something the car was designed for. There are better car choices than the 1LE for that.

I think he was talking about being able to change the parameters in the settings... Launch rpm, slippage, etc, etc.
Line-lock would be nice as well.

Elkhart Lake Blue looks very similar to '16-'18 Hyper Blue that was offered. I wonder if it's actually the same?

Adding the auto to the SS 1LE is a smart move. I bet next year they will do the same to the V6 & 2.0T versions.
Whether it's for "purists" or not, GM is in the business of making money and this gives them both a change to advertise for the new model year as well as appeal to a larger potential customer base. They still offer the manual for those who want it. The auto will be more consistent than the manual at the dragstrip and every bit as fast as the manual on any track. With the volumes these cars are selling at (specifically the manual version), we're lucky GM is still offering one and spending the time to validate and certify an additional configuration for each engine. I think they did a really good job on the manual as well, even taking the time to offer No-Lift Shift, Rev Matching, and manual specific launch control.

Oh well, Chevy has ruined another track oriented Camaro!
