Yep my camaro is going into a barn for 40 years, and I'm gonna throw an old tarp on it and not touch it for the whole time period.

-yeah.......right.

I am the guy that drove a 1 of 6 Intimidators and listened to all the collectors bitch whine and moan about the value of the car ..Now that I had spoiled it.
I looked at it like this, I made slight mods that can always go back stock , Cat Back and put the stock wheels and tires away.
I smiled big for 68k mikes every time I turned the key and planned to keep rolling in that 02, Then I drove this 2010 ABM and well I have a great display of a 2002 B4C camaro I have put aside. I plan to sell it someday as someone else should get to drive it, as it does not belong as garage jewelry.

You don't have to wait 40 years. A car that's several years old will sell for more bone stock than it will heavily modified, unless you find some dumb kid who thinks the mods are cool and doesn't consider the likely abuse the modes car has received.

+1 - Unfortunately for many of us 40 years from now means we'll be driving another model - and yes - it will be modified...

There are more rare combos than that. Either way the combinations of options are too limited to make a car so unique it doesn't have a bunch of siblings. Nor will any of them be special and desirable enough to add value.

Rare does not equal valuable.

The 1SS might not be very common, but I don't think it's value will be higher than a 2SS.

These cars you see at the High end auctions are Stock but not original in almost all cases. I have restored two 69 verts, typically you are doing this because you like to restore cars not to sell them. You really don't make your money back ! I sold one restore to fund the other. You really fall in love with these cars !
On a NEW Camaro moding is half the fun, the other half is driving it ! Just enjoy it !

The 2010/2011 Camaro is NOT a classic muscle car. In 10 years a classic muscle car will be worth more than it is today. In 10 - 20 years, a 2010 Camaro will be worth very little. Sorry, but its true.

The classic muscle cars will always be the cars from the 60s and early 70s.

In 40 years, a 1969 Camaro will still be the car people want.

Back in the early 90s guys were saying the same thing about the Camaros (keep them stock, don't put miles on them). Here we are 15 years later and how much are those 1994 Camaros worth? Not a good investment.

+1 1 RS/SS with guage pkg CGM W Grey interior not many like this sold but don't care about in the future driving the hell out of it now lowered with Foose wheels keeping all the stock parts including the wheels so when I sell it they will look like the show room floor.

How much was a 60's muscle car worth when it was 15 years old? Not much.

I'm not saying these will be valuable in the future, but if you want to cite the value of a 15 year old car as a basis of the car's future value, then you have to concede that the trend is the same (so far). Plus, the 60's muscle cars were made popular by the HP wars, which is very much alive now and not so much in the 90s.

IMO Special Editions and discontinued colors/options bring more rarity than model/trim levels ...

Also value can only be based on being at the right place at the right time, and what someone is willing to pay for something.

Exactly, it has taken nearly 35 years just to get back to the hp rating these cars once had.
